The Atlanta Hawks just had one of the best offseasons in the league. They landed Kristaps Porzingis for a minimal return, added Terance Mann, and secured an unprotected first-round pick from the Pelicans that could fall in the top 10 next year. That pick turned into Asa Newell at No. 23, a promising switchable big who showed real shooting upside in Summer League.
They also picked up Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Luke Kennard, all while staying under the luxury tax. This team is built to compete now as a darkhorse in the wide-open Eastern Conference, but with smart cap flexibility if things don’t go as planned.
