π₯ Chicago Bulls Small Forward Battle: Who Wins the Starting Spot in 2025-26? π π
The Chicago Bulls are heading into the 2025-26 NBA season with one of the most fascinating battles in years β the starting Small Forward spot is COMPLETELY up for grabs. And you better believe itβs going to be one of the most important storylines for this team moving forward. Host Philip Charles VanDerHeyden IV (PCV IV) of Just Another Year Chicago: Bulls is breaking it all down, Chicago style.
While there are technically seven players who could be thrown into the conversation, PCV IV cuts four names from the list right away β Patrick Williams, Julian Phillips, Noa Essengue, and even top prospect Matas Buzelis. Why are they off the table? PCV IV has the answers, and heβs not pulling punches when it comes to explaining why they arenβt ready to lead this Bulls team at the 3.
That leaves us with the real contenders: Ayo Dosunmu, Kevin Huerter, and Isaac Okoro.
Ayo Dosunmu β The hometown hero. The Chicago kid who refuses to quit. Fresh off a breakout year where he set career highs in points, efficiency, and defensive metrics, Ayo has proven he can guard multiple positions and knock down big shots when it matters. He knows what it means to wear that Bulls jersey, and the cityβs energy is behind him. Can Ayoβs two-way game finally cement him as the starting SF?
Kevin Huerter β The sniper. Acquired in a move to boost Chicagoβs shooting, Huerter brings career 38% three-point shooting and underrated playmaking to a roster that desperately needs spacing for Josh Giddey and Coby White. Huerter has started plenty of games in Sacramento and Atlanta, proving he can handle playoff-level basketball. Is his shooting gravity enough to force Billy Donovanβs hand?
Isaac Okoro β The defensive bulldog. Okoro came over from Cleveland with the reputation as one of the toughest wing defenders in the league. Heβs athletic, physical, and embraces the challenge of locking down the other teamβs best scorer. If he can keep his three-point shooting steady (he shot nearly 40% from deep last season in Cleveland), his 3-and-D presence could be exactly what Chicago needs next to Giddey, Coby, and Vucevic.
Three players. One starting spot. And the future of the Bullsβ lineup could hinge on this decision. PCV IV is bringing the passion, the numbers, and the Chicago bias to tell you why this battle is the most exciting storyline to follow heading into training camp.

I think the Bulls will start PWill to increase trade value for him.
Going to be close
Pwill his first 3 years had potential for 3 and defense and the stats backed it up. He did miss almost the whole 2nd season with a wrist injury as well. His 4th and 5th yr he got injured halfway thru 4th and had no offseason going into last yr where he also had a setback with that foot and sat for X amount of games. When he came back he actually played better than before the setback imo. The 1 thing I wanna see is him healthy to get good data specifically in this new offense again with a healthy foot, which is pretty important to have for the game of basketball. Many things r affected your running, jumping, cutting all play a role. We saw Zach with almost a similar foot issue look bad. And then look himself when healthy. I just want his size and strength to help with the physicality game to game plus we need as many on ball defenders as we can get. Based off game to game and practice i expect Billy to play whoever he thinks he needs i hope
Congrats Giddy
Congrats Giddy!
Ayo appears to have favor but Kevin is a really smart player π―
PWill will come off the bench as he contributes more in that role.
Congratulations Giddey!
