Yes of course they were going to be better at the back end of the season. It isn't because of the lack of Ivey but things clicking and Thompson's return. He is a good player. However that doesn't mean he should be on the pistons. It also doesn't mean he needs to be traded.
If Duren actually grew another inch or two we need to sign him ASAP. Look at what happened to Sengun's defense after he grew.
