The real solution is GSW should tell teams they won't match any offers and move on. Why go through all this just bench or trade him. No team is going to give high value for a player they know you don't want and will most likely flee after one year.

Sign the qualifying offer. The team has no incentive to play him.Then sit him. The next team uses the unproven/potential to underpay. He's costing himself money, not only now but when he's free agent next year. He will get signed to his team of choice and get the minutes, but will be underpaid significantly, even if he ovwe performs. He's playing the short game, not the long.
If Kuminga does that he will play very few minutes next season and will have to sign another 1 year deal because no one will want to pay him much. Then if he plays well that year he can sign a multi year contract. But he will be throwing away 2 years of real earnings for minimal contracts and to stick it to the warriors.
No young player in the league would want to be on the warriors especially near kerr…one way or the other jk should get the hell out of there, this season ain't looking good for the warriors
It seems to me that GSW did not give him minutes on purpose so that they wouldn’t have to pay him market value because of the second apron. Kuminga is looking after his best interests which does not necessarily align with what GSW is trying to do.
If he gets injured, hell be 11 million next year.

We all know the Warriors value JK more as “trade bait” than actual player. That’s why JK is willing to accept the QO. The Warriors have this fear of losing him for nothing, like they lost Gilbert Arenas in 2003. It’s weird because the Warriors should conduct themselves as title contenders, not held hostage by JK.
Can the season hurry up and start? Absolutely nobody cares about Cuminga.

One MAJOR mistake in this analysis by Tim MacMahon. It isn't that the Warriors and Kerr don't think he's a future star. The problem is his fit with the team. Giving him a shot at being a star means compromising the two years left with Curry, Draymond, and Butler. Kuminga needs the ball to develop—it's why he hasn't developed nearly as much as the people in his draft class who were on crappy teams. Golden State is the wrong place for him and has been since the beginning. They should have drafted someone who was closer to ready. I blame Joe Lacob for that 100%.
