The 3 best players on Houston last year (Sengun, Amen, and Tari) all saw substantial net rating improvements without FVV on the floor. FVV’s main role last year was to babysit the shot checkers (Jalen and Dillon) but now that their touches are being taken by KD I think FVV was kind of redundant. He’s a good playmaker but Sengun and Amen have shown enough that they should be comfortable running sets through those two. And not to mention FVV shot 38% from the field and is a 5’11 body on defense. I think it’s a blessing in disguise

Amen is gonna be forced to develop his playmaking and become even better. Reed has IMPROVED so much. They also so much trade capital still to get off the FVF contract and bring in something way better. The sky is not falling.

They have Aaron Holiday. He's a lot like FVV. All they need out of a PG this year is to bring the ball up, distribute, and hit some 3's. This is what AH does. They can bring Reed off the bench. KD, Senguin and now Jabari will be scorers. Amen will need to step it up some but he's been doing exactly that each season. They don't need an All-star point guard, just a game manager and that's what they have in Holiday.

The Rockets were a strong "on paper" team, especially because of Fred VanVleet and KD, but also because of the untested athletes. VanVleet has either shot the team out of important games of didn't show up like he should. KD is too focused on efficiency above all else. The rest of the team is a question mark. They're a little less exciting by losing VanVleet, but it was hype to begin with.
Captain Caruso and Lou Dort are just gonna feast on the Rockets back-court. Freddie ain't no Kyrie or nothing offensively, but he's solid and unflappable with a well-polished 'court general' mindset and skillset. Fit's Houston's roster great… now… umm… wellll…. OKC, AntMan in Minne, even Murray and CB in Denver are going to give Houston's back-court serious problems. The Ws won't just because they don't really have that perimeter thief of any kind and same goes for Phoenix, but even then Houston loses a big piece of how they were going to distribute the ball amongst those scorers while still giving the young guys the touches to advance.
