If smart starts and ar comes of the bench we are good, if austin starts we're cooked.
Team needs more balance on offense between Luka , AR and Bron should be better sets only playing around Luka leaves us looking like the suns just taking turns . All 3 guys high level IQ and can hoop problem was defensively we need a 3 and d guy in line up we have a center now that’s really it

We are depending on AR and Luca. On offense if they cannot break down defense they'll pass for bailout shots. Defense they bring nothing…… combined with LeBron who does the same….wtf…Ayton should put in trade request now as he and Rui will be the only lines of defensive integrity

Lakers still had too many issues that need to fix ASAP. At least we solve 1 or two of them right now. Maybe we had a chance this season to win. Solving it mid season will make it still a disaster. F**k the future. Focus for now.
I would love to hear JJ talk and keep using the emphasis of Defense. Defense. Defense. Team defense. Angles. Energy. Using the bench for high energy moments and to keep the starters healthy till we gear up for March.
LeBron was cooking till he got injured in March and then the team didn’t have the same momentum.
I think Rui is the starter till someone like Smart takes it away. Rui is the only guy shooting over 40% from 3. Rui just needs to get more energy and mobile on defense. Maybe slim down slightly and get faster or quicker w his feet so he can guard 2-4. Right now him and Rui both guard the 4 and that doesn’t make sense on defense.
AR should be the “PG” in my opinion. Give him a chance to start some kind of offense scheme. Then defer to Luka. This can conserve Luka energy for each game and for the season. Use Luka as more of a point forward. He has to guard a 3 or 4 on defense anyways. I typically saw Luka burn out in the 4tj quarters and play too much ISO high pick and roll

Luka was always a good defender – he's just a slow defender. Put him on someone who doesn't have speed to easily blow by and Luka will do just fine. His off-ball defence is great to get in passing lanes. You don't need to "hide" him, but you do need to make sure others can he has others to cover the main ball handlers which is exactly the issue for this team right now.
Fact is that with Reaves, Luka, Lebron and Rui, we were destroyed last year by Minesotta. So, now, this year, we will go with Reaves, Luka, Lebron and Rui. Trevor, do you know how is it called the people that do the same thing again and again waiting for different results????
at 25 to 30 nobody is complaining about Austin we just don't want him paid as a # 2 option he isn't that he should be a 6th man and paid accordingly

We need to know that Marcus Smart is still himself before we make him the 5th starter. Until then, we go with Rui. I am expecting improvement from Luka & AR defensively just because they are both in better shape. LeBron will be more focused on defense since he can finally take a step back on offense. Rui will improve on defense. And now, we actually have a real center in Ayton who should be as motivated as ever. Try that lineup first. If the defense fails, try Smart, LaRavia, or Vando in that 5th spot.

Austin is an exceptional talent that we need. He improves each season and is always doing something special for us! We need to keep him with his defense, steals and shooting. Go get ‘em AR.

He should stick with a set of guys. Like Phil use to do. A set sub in time and don't change the rotation at all. Let the guys build and struggle and overcome.
Starters Luka, Smart, Vando, LBJ , Ayton
Bench Reaves, Laravia , Riu, Thiero, Hayes
Balance and consistency is what the lakers need.
Defense and stars , reaves and riu will produce more being the stars on the second unit.
Thiero and laravia will play well off of each other. They will play tremendous defense.
This is your rotation, don't change all year. They will be rolling by trade deadline because they are sure of what they are going to get from there coach night in and night out.
The concern for me is JJ and what exactly he is going to do in the playoffs. I have no doubt he will get through the regular season and Luka will do his stuff. JJ Redick will be the key this season he still has a lot to prove IMO.

That's the stupidest NBA rule ever and it needs to be changed immediately. If one of a team's starters gets injured, then they should be able to replace them, hard cap be damned.
Overpay for Herb Jones and lock up a defensive shooter for years to come.
