You know, in reality, that lakers team was flawed. Yes people picked them to win but they were clearly wrong. So given that, I put that series win on the same tier as gsw, not impressive. That lakers team basically had no center, no depth and fat Luka literally just got there. The wolves should have blown them out every game but surprisingly only one blowout, most of the games were close. The wolves didn’t even shoot from the field well against the lakers. Why did Anthony Edwards efficiency dip when facing them? The wolves beat the Lakers on the boards and second chance points, that was the big difference. Because even against the wolves, they didn’t shoot poorly. Now they have Deandre ayton who is a double double guy. He is a top 5 rebounder per 36 and even without trying, can easily be a big reason why they become a good rebounding team. He’s going to be more motivated now since it’s a contract year and Monty isn’t his coach. That’s his whole reason for coming to the lakers. Also they now have legit depth. They moved on from dfs who just got surgery on his ankles and got 4 players coming in. That’s a good trade to me. Marcus smart can do what dfs did and then some with his playmaking. They have more depth now
Orlando has a far easier path to the finals, and getting there is half the battle. That’s why.
