The Toronto Raptors didn’t have the best offseason, but the way they’ve built out the roster is really intriguing, and they could be closer to a breakthrough than you realize.

  1. I respect your analysis as always, but you’re way too low on this team, they at least winning 47-52 games with a floor first round exit and ceiling of a second round. Also our offense at B at worst. Like I said love your channel, respect your analysis but we’ll see how this team shape up

  2. I think whats most interesting to me as a Raps fan is how the pieces fit in Darko's system. The offensive scheme last year was pass heavy and sloppy with a lot of turnovers. With BI as another creative passer, and Barnes pass first mentality they could generate a ton of ball movement complimented by slashers and shooters. I expect Ja'kobe to have a solid year, he had a good run in summer league, and I think he'll develop into a weapon off the bench

I have hopes the offense will be fun to watch, but shot efficiency and health are still big questions with how far we go in an already injured east.

  3. I Beleive this team will shock the nba. Take advantage of the situation. We are healthy (knock on wood) – we just got CMB AND Ingram and mamu added to a pretty deep team. Mamu fits darko perfect. The line ups can be so varied to. Yak p / Sandro mamu give you totally different looks. You can also go CMB or mogbo at centre in funky line ups.

  4. I think IQ got some underrated slashing game tho I'm very high on him stepping into a mini version of the number one explained in this video (or point BI 😚😚)

  5. Great video man. You're becoming my favorite bball youtuber lately. Extremely thorough, concise, and well thought out. Good shit. I can't wait for the Pistons season preview😊

  6. Fully agree with the analysis but I don't think their future is that bright tbh.
They're already a first apron team, as far as picks go they basically just have their own picks (which are projected to be late lottery, not really that valuable).

They have a bunch of good but overpaid players whose skillsets don't mesh and they're not really young either. RJ is 25, IQ is 26, BI is 28, Poeltl is 30 in a couple weeks.

I think their decision to just "retool" for a few years instead of committing to an actual rebuild will really come back to bite them.

  7. Sleepers folks – top 4 in East. Book it!
Starting 5 is stout regardless of what some Tik Tok clip evaluators believe!
"Dormant" off-season? ..they added a stud in the draft, then picked up a few more interesting draft pieces – but did most their heavy lifting at trade deadline getting Ingram, signed him (that was their "off-season").

  9. people dont watch the Raptors but the are one of very few teams who play defense. Anyone sleeping on them is up for a big surprise next season

  10. So you think a starting line up with 4 players that can score twenty plus points a game is going to be a mid to bad offence. I think you are going to be shocked by how good they end up being. If they can avoid major injuries, they will have a top ten offence. You heard it here. Also, you are way undervaluing RJ's three point shot. Which he has improved every single year. Last year he was a solid 3 point shooter and will probably be even better this year. Barnes was a decent three point shooter in 2023 and fell off last year because A) he was either playing injured, or B) part of a team that was really intentionally trying to tank.

  11. Rj is a much better 3pt. Shooter than you give him credit for. His rim attack is super strong. Best 3rd option in nba

  12. I definitely think this team can make playoffs if we are 90% healthy… id even call it a lock due to the injuries to key guys in the East. Missing playoffs would be a catastrophy and probably bye bye to Darko. Overall though, I dont see this team turning into an elite team as its currently constructed. I dont think trades get us there either unless something random happens similar to a Kawhi situation.

I do think next season will be fun but I think it would be better to acquire as many assets as we can and build around Scottie but hope to get lucky and draft a superstar PG. Any ways… I know this wont happen so will just sit back and hope I'm wrong.

  13. new sub, as a raps fan this was a real team review. Lot of good context on their situation and fair skepticism . W

  14. Is this a title contending team? Hell no. But when people say this team will barely make the play-in… makes me think that they have zero clue about basketball outside of their team. Injuries dismantled the Raptors and of course the path to tank was in full effect. Despite pulling starters out for the rest of the games at the end of the 3rd/start of 4th, they won a handful of games they had no business winning. Now adding BI to the mix, along with having the mentality to NOT tank and try to win and people claim this team won't win 40 games? Really people? The only thing stopping the Raptors from avoiding the play-in and winning 40+ games is the injuries. If this team is healthy, they will be a top 6 seed.

  15. I've been hearing (for the most part) nothing but Raptors hate and confusion. I don't get it, I see the Raptors being a 6-8 seed this upcoming season, assuming they stay healthy.
Quickley is an above average PG…nothing great but serviceable.
RJ is an underrated G IMO, averaging over 21PPG at almost 47%. Those are solid numbers
Poeltl is an above average center who just had a career year and is very efficient.
Barnes is just a scrappy hard working, well rounded player.
Ingram was a former all-star and borders on that superstar talent. This is key… if he stays healthy and returns to form, this is a very solid starting lineup.

They also have a decent amount of depth and a lot of good defenders, which as we all know is very important.

This being their first season together, I don't expect them to be contenders. But I definitely see them being a playoff team this year easily, especially with teams like indie and Boston facing injury problems.

Is the mainstream media just judging based on last season? If so that is stupid. In my eyes, the Raptors were just experimenting with lineup combinations, and they were by no means healthy. Their best player didn't even play a single game. This team is going to surprise a lot of people.

  16. RJ can’t finish going to his right or shoot on the right side of the court to save his life. He needs to come off the bench and let Gradey and his much better shooting start.

  17. They had the youngest rotation in the league last year. With some internal progression, introduction of an all star calibre guy in BI, and the addition of Murray Boyles they could very easily be the surprise team this season

  18. Its an A for defence. You realized we where the 2nd ranked defence at the end of last season, right?

  19. If you say BI was last year then this offseason was bad. Better health and development of bench should get them to 6-7 seed.

  20. I really think Ingram will unlock a lot for this offense. He demands attention and can create his own when others shots aren't dropping. Barret has been improving every year and now he should get easier looks with Ingram being the opposing teams focal point. Hopefully quickly can stay healthy and Dick takes another step forward. Barnes should play much better without all the pressure as well.
