– Tyler Herro and Nikola Jovic both spoke to the Heat playing with more pace this season. This is the most young and athletic Miami Heat roster they have had in the past decade. Miami has been bottom 5 in pace in each of the last four NBA seasons.
– Nikola Jovic is eligible for extension through October 20th. Jovic said he isn’t thinking about it but hopes to get a long-term commitment from Pat Riley and the Heat front office.
– Heat head coach, Erik Spoelstra, did not commit to a Heat starting lineup at media day. The projected starting lineup is: Davion Mitchell, Norman Powell, Andrew Wiggins, Bam Adebayo, and Kel’el Ware. Jovic could be a starter instead of Ware.
– Tyler Herro injury news has him out for the next 8-12 weeks. Herro told coach Spoelstra he may be able to return in six weeks due to his foot surgery.
– Terry Rozier lost 10-12 lbs this NBA offseason, and hopes to have a bounce-back year following the disastrous 2023-24 season.

    They claim they were going to play fast last year, we have yet to see that. Let’s see what kind of chemistry the team display this year .

    I haven’t watched even half of the media day coverage, but I actually really like a bunch of things I’ve heard a lot.

    #1 In his interview with Tobin, Jovic says he’s focused on whatever role, but deep down he really wants to be the guy for this team…I love that, especially since…

    #2 Spo’s approach is exactly what I wanted it to be. This season is a huge unknown and he’s encouraging/empowering everyone to assert themselves to find out who will pop. That’s exactly what this season needs to be until they find a guy that can be a REAL #1 option.

    #3 in Ware’s interview with Tobin he talked about working on putting the ball on the ground. I love this, and it’s a welcomed departure from the rigid, role-specific development a lot of young players go through in the Heat’s system. Ware has too much talent to only work on fundamental center stuff.

    All in all, the vibes felt like no expectations, no pressure, we’re going to figure out the best path forward for the future of this team. That’s what I want this season to be about.
