  1. Speed kills 100% if we can out run our opponents every game til the point they fatigue we got better chances of winning games u right on the turnovers but thats why Ja is the ball handler bc he can slow down the offense a lil to see who’s open or not nd still be able to finish the play before the time run out he juss want the players to think auick but also take their time it’s not like he saying every play we should be running bc this ain’t football but also speed can help us bc we got sum very fast players on our team nd Ja is one of em this system gone fit Ja bc ja morant is so quick nd so fast he can score within a snap of a finger speed is wat gone keep us healthy nd have more endurance to finish out the szn

  2. Better!
Thank you for the effort to be more open.

I think part of your disconnect is you not being in Memphis.
The Grind City Media folk are all turning into Iisalo fanboys and fangirls now. Just saw a video from them titled Tuomas Iisalo might be a basketball savant, and they all pretty much gush about him after having been around him. It’s different when you’re actually around him and get to experience how he bends reality to his will.

You have so much that you know about the Grizzlies that you’re not willing to let go of yet, but you will as the season progresses and you see that I wasn’t exaggerating when I said that Tuomas is going to revolutionize the entire organization.
It’s going to look and be very different and will need a set of open eyes and an open mind to be fully appreciated.

I of course agree with you that it’s not going to happen overnight. With how short training camp is in the NBA, there’s going to be more turnovers in the beginning as everyone gets used to the system, but that’s ok. They will get there.
I said last season though that Tuomas wont leave anything to chance and will assign plenty of homework to get the process started, and we’re getting reports of just that now. Ja in his training camp interview said this was by far his best day 1 ever and that everyone was locked in and working in unison.
He also talked about how he’s helping Jaren with learning screens. Things are happening. Tuomas will unlock everyone and we will see sides of them we haven’t seen before. That’s just what he does. He leaves absolutely nothing to chance and knows how to handle the human side of things as well so it becomes a, dare I say it, holistic change.

Prepare to be surprised, is my advice.

  3. I don’t think we’ll be too fast because Isalo still talked about half court offense. Just depends on who’s pushing the ball and what point of the season we’re talking about.

  4. Ja has been hurt more times on fast breaks than anything else. They have to be selective and stay healthy. The trying to be the fastest team may be why we stayed injured and high turnovers.

  5. I agree with Joe. This "speed kills" means that once again our star players will not play a lot of minutes again this season. I also believe that was part of the reason the team faded last season.

  6. You are not being to negative where Santi is concerned, it’s obvious to me as well. There is no one else right now. You got a good pay increase and JA can’t be the 5. Go too work Santi.

  7. The pace is a dangerous thing for sure, but Iisalo has also prioritized being patience and aggressive in the offense. He compared it to the velociraptors in Jurassic Park testing the fence until the powers down then strikes. Again all of this is theoretical until we see in game reps and how it evolves over the. I’m willing to bet it’ll be a fun season to watch though. Also, I walked past Santi at lunch the other day so that was cool lol.

  8. Shoot you got all of these ball handlers I could see it happening. Even Jaren can handle the ball to start a break. Steven Adams was good for speed cause he could grab the rebound and instantly hand it off to a handler or pass it down the court quickly to start the run. If Edey can use his awareness to pull off the same, lookout. Limit the turnovers!

  9. I don’t always agree with Joe but I mostly agree the last two days. Some of our fans try to bully others in not giving a fair critique of the team if a part is negative. I am looking forward to seeing if Ty Jerome will be the main secondary ball handler.

  10. I fear that Iisalo’s system won’t work in that he’s only succeeded with this “speed kills” mantra with his previous teams that only had to play 25 games in a single season. I do have hope that a mind as brilliant as his will try to do everything possible to make it work, but it’s easy to be skeptical.
