It will come down to whether the Hawks are willing to provide him with a max contract and if he makes an All NBA team which makes him eligible for a super max contract, while being able to extend Dyson Daniels and possibly Porzingis if he plays well this season. I think the new GM also wants to see how this newly constructed roster play together. I think people need to pay more attention to the new CBA, especially the second Apron. While I doubt whether the Hawks will give Trae a super max contract because I can see him making one of those All NBA teams or even a max contract, other players will likely be sacrificed.
