The Golden State Warriors Struck Gold This Off-Season

The Golden State Warriors Struck Gold This Off-Season

While the NBA world focused on the Kuminga contract drama, Mike Dunleavy quietly landed three perfect fits: D’Anthony Melton, Al Horford, and Seth Curry. In this video, we break down why Melton’s defensive metrics make him one of the best guard stoppers in the league, how Horford continues to defy age with elite rim protection and floor spacing at 39 years old, and why Seth’s shooting efficiency adds a whole new dimension to the “Splash Brothers” storyline.

With advanced stats from the 2024-25 season, we show how each of these additions directly addresses Golden State’s biggest weaknesses. This isn’t just about names, it’s about fit. And the Warriors struck gold at the perfect time.

  1. Agreed on the Melton pickup being just as important as Horford and maybe even more so since he can lock up on the perimeter while relatively being in his prime

  2. Also the defense on this team is going to be top tier

Melton Jimmy Draymond Horford Pods Moody all have the length and the will to lock up and get deflections which if that happens we running people off the court

  3. Seth might make Buddy’s contract something they try to pair with kuminga to pick up an impact player and shorten he guard overlap since Seth is elite and more consistent at shooting and on a cheaper contract

  4. Over decades of watching and studying basketball, I have had to evolve in understanding that just having five players with big scoring averages does not always (actually rarely) equate to winning basketball. There is a definite emphasis in this particular roster construction to perimeter defense which conforms to how the league has become one in which if you can't defend the three and make threes, it is just that much harder to win. So, not only have they added more proven three point shooting but they have also attended to defensive needs. If the Warriors are going to make a run, they will, as always, have to be one of the top defensive teams in the league. The obvious weakness last year was consistent scoring when Steph was not on the floor and….after a long offseason with so many fans complaining about the front office not doing anything, in one fell swoop, a whole lot of holes got filled and questions got answered.

  5. The Warriors struck gold alright…..FOOL'S GOLD😅 No but seriously I do really like Al Hortford, and Melton ain't bad but they're not contenders in the West

  6. Seeing Steph and Seth play together seems like it will be fun to watch. Seth has good 3pt percentage and Steph can make really difficult shots.

  7. They did not! Horford avg 9pt a ga game last year Melton is coming off major surgery and Seth defense is poor! We will see how much they can help! Saying they hit gold is a bit of a stretch!
