Orlando Magic Debut New Roster in Preseason Debut With Miami Heat – These 3 Things
The Orlando Magic began the 2025-26 NBA season with a preseason matchup against the Miami Heat in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Magic came away with a 126-118 victory.
The win that won’t count was secondary to simply understanding how the new-look Orlando Magic would play with substantial changes to the roster. We got to see Desmond Bain in an Orlando Magic uni for the first time, as well as Tyus Jones—who started in place of starting PG Jalen Suggs. In addition, Franz Wagner didn’t play, as he’s resting from his summer playing with the German National Team.
In addition to roster changes, the Magic added to their staff with a new offensive and player development coach.
Internal expectations for the team are running at an all-time high, as the Orlando Magic’s President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman went all-in in putting the current roster together.
Will they live up to expectations, or will the Magic end with another first-round playoff exit that will surely bring more changes—but not to the roster this time.
In this episode of These 3 Things, we take a look at the Orlando Magic and what we learned from the first preseason game with the new roster.
