The New Orleans Pelicans are maybe the NBA’s weirdest team, balancing a long history of injuries with a talented young roster after an active offseason. But are they good enough to compete in the West?

  1. Dam I wanted Trey Murphy to be Most Improved Player / All Star past season he really showcase as a great scorer people forget he had a torn labrum / meniscus

2:10 omg look how deep he shoots the ball 🎯

He’s in the category with Jalen Johnson but with Zion & Jordan Poole he might not go towards those heights of number again but he might have great efficiency and still can win those awards depend on health and team record for this season

  2. Ceiling as first round exit is crazy considering the ceiling is Zion stays healthy for playoffs. We’ve never seen that and if that happens imo the ceiling is WCF because when Zion plays he’s a top 10 player

  3. They need to trade Dejounte asap. Total negative on the court. If they could get back Tari Eason or someone similar they’d be solid. Poole is perfect pg for this team and Missi deserves a lot more respect. Most of all they need a better coach

  4. I hope Poole understands by now exceptional play doesn't need the bullshit… Steph didn't just start turning around looking at the crowd without first learning to shoot the shot the SAME way EVERY TIME first!

  5. Zions defense has graduated to way above avg. I watched him clamp khawi. Since the embarrassment to the lakers in that tournament he has been everywhere on D. Also Peavy is in the similar to herb and we have jalen McDaniels. The team has a crazy amount of depth. Missi swats everything and Karlo is a good shotblocker as well. The teams defense is gonna be good. The problem we have is rebounding. We get destroyed on the boards.

  6. I agree with almost everything except I think the pels roster versatility is gonna be a big strength for them on offense.. defense is probably going to be the issue

  7. Most Underrated Team In The NBA Rn, Let’s Not Forget In 2024 Two Seasons Ago This Team Won 49 Games And Zion Played 70 Games That Same Season Dropping 40 Points In The Play In To Get Them Into The Playoffs, Players To Watch For Saddiq Bey And Micah Peavy The Rookie, Other Than That Fire Willie Green And This Team Will SURPRISE Everyone…..

  8. whyd they get rid if duson daniels for dejounte murray the team would be so much better with dyson

  9. Zion has actually shown to be a solid defender when in shape, so now with him being in the best shape he's been in, I'm wondering where that elevates his defense too.

  10. If Dejounte comes back healthy + productive, they’re most likely:
Dejounte, Trey, Herb, Z, Looney/Missi; Poole, Hawk, Bey, Missi/Looney off the bench. Poole at 30+ minutes, Missi close to 30. Poole and Dejounte can share the floor (JP could even come off the bench and get more minutes than DJ), one of Trey or Herb will always be at the 3, and when Z isn’t on the floor they can even go small with Poole, Dejounte, Murphy, and Herb. Those are TOUGH line-ups. If Fears is a contributor and Matko takes another step forward…

If you read their schedule and go game-by-game, they ought to be somewhere in range of 40-45 wins. If I was setting betting odds- w an assumption of good health- I’d set em at +/- 40.5 [expect to clean up anywhere w +/- under 30 W’s].

If they get injury good luck, and some of the teams ahead of them get injury bad luck they could easily get back to that 50 win range from the 2023-24 season. Ppl just hate because they’re told to. The Queen trade was dumb as shit, but doesn’t make them worse on the floor this year. The injuries last year were mostly freak injuries that any team could’ve had. They won 49 the year before, and had a healthy AD + LeBron beat until Z pulled his hamstring. This is a good team that should be 6-10 seed in the West.

  11. Great brake down of the Pelicans. I agree the defense and health are their weak link.

  12. Herb or Trey for a legit stretch to pair with Zi would be nice.

    PG Poole
    SG Murray
    SF Trey/Herb
    PF Zion
    C Vucevic?

  13. I mean Zion is a game breaking force the fact is when he’s healthy he’s 60% within 12 feet from the hoop. The problem is they don’t give him fouls like they give LeBron. If he was in a bigger market he would be getting an extra number of points every night via free throws. Instead he gets beat on. He really is the most talented finisher of his generation and deserves to be held in the same conversation as LeBron and Shaq.

  14. I can’t wait to watch this team. They giving me that vibe the grizzlies gave me 2/3 years ago

  15. I'm rooting for you New Orleans, but I don't believe Pelicans fans. You guys preface everything with "when" "if" 😂
    No hate though.

I guess there's a new coach or team organizer, dumars from Pistons so we'll see.

I hope our warriors Looney and Poole are great for you.

  16. The Spurs & Pelicans are my 2 favorite teams (currently live in San Antonio, lived in Louisiana for 4 years) and both have very promising futures.

  17. Unbiased fan here, I think the Pelicans can surprise a lot of people. They’ve been consistently good WHEN HEALTHY. And people treat this team like it’s full of scrubs
