Kings drop preseason opener to the Raptors, still a work in progress
KCRA 3’s Sean Cunningham, Brenden Nunes from the Kings Pulse Podcast and The Kings Beat’s James Ham join forces for coverage of the Sacramento Kings.
Topics include the Kings’ preseason opener against the Toronto Raptors, who stood out and who didn’t, is it too early to make judgements on the team and another episode of The Business of Basketball discussing the potential for a Keegan Murray extension.
Thanks for joining us on this adventure! Big shoutout to Paul Jinkerson (@paulitition) for creating a new intro and outro for the podcast and to Brenden for creating our new overlay for the podcast.

Seasons been over. F the bs.
Starters look like jaded veterans just collecting their checks.
Yeah. The starters look apathetic and absolutely showed no heart, energy, or desire to be in Sacramento. Doug has some tough choices because if it were me, I would have DeMar and some others come off the bench until they get their heads out of their asses. This is the same team from last year. No ball movement. No chemistry. No perimeter defense. No heart. Just pathetic basketball. I'm not going to pay to watch this all year. I'd rather watch the young guys play and see what we have in the future instead of watching players we know will be gone in the future tbh.
Great episode! More live shows this season !
This team has NO identity. Do we even know what the game plan is each game? It used to be run and play fast, but all the Kings have is an ISO player in DeMar and zero chemistry, flow, and ball movement. This team is NOT a team. I don't see it. I think the Kings have to put some of the young guns with the starting group because the starters look awful, old, and slow.
This season gonna be long.
Aw I wish I had run into you at Aftershock Sean!
Yall been hoping for this sorry ass organization for 20 yrs. Same statment wvery yr. Same disappointed. Weak and soft ass players on this team.
Gonna be another year of our team trading buckets because we have no defense. Unless Doug can instill a willingness in them to play defense, possession at a time. When you trade buckets and don't emphasize defense more times then not, your going to lose. ..
Really hope that won't happen this year.. but I really don't see that with our roster, in particular our starters. I like the promise outside our starters. With all that said I REALLLLY hope I can be proven wrong.
Absolutely no confidence in this chat at all. Bum of downers. If they win by 20 in the preseason, it also doesn't matter. This is WARM UP time. Relax. Let's see what the buy-in is week 2 of the season before we jump off boys π
$27k for Keegan
Sean you are βThe Man!β
If I didn't look so closely at the calendar, I thought that game against Toronto was a re-run from March of 2025.
James says the team has only been together for 7 days…it's basically the same roster as last season, post trade deadline. They are who they are. I expect more performances like this for most of the season.
