The San Antonio Spurs are 4-0 in the preseason and have looked fantastic. Just how good could the Spurs be this season!?

  1. To me the main questions to take away are:
Can KJ keep playing so efficiently cause we need that next to Harper in our limited creation bench. If Keldon shoots 38% from three he might be 6MOTY this year.
Can Champagnie keep shooting so well because we need that spacing desperetly from a guy like him. He needs to shoot 40% from the 3, he just has to.
Can the defense continue to be physical and heavy on effort for 48 minutes
Can we push the pace as we've been doing now but even faster when we get Fox back

  2. The good :
    – Wemby's improvements are crazy. Centers like Nurkic, Stewart or Huff are unable to defend on him due to his power/agility combination. When the mismatch is found, the player is obliged to foul Wemby if a double play is not called. Because his post-up games is far much better.
If not injured, you can already count on him to be in the top5 MVP.
    – Harper is very impressive. Everything that we could have seen in Rutgers is translated in NBA for the moment (yes, this is only preseason but…) : very clean offensive creation (5.5 assists for 1 TO), ability to drive to the rim and good catch&shoot.
    – Champagnie seems to become the real expected 3&D.
    – Keldon Johnson is really bluffing in this preseason. Still his ability to drive to the rim but he also add a very efficient post-up game. And his catch&shoot is back… (in his sophomore season, he was 39% at 3 !!).
    – Kornet will definitely be the X-factor for the Spurs. Always well positioned in the dunker spot to catch&finish, to rebound (3.3 offensive rebounds). He should definitely get all minutes without Wemby but also several minutes with the double big lineup.

    The not so good :
    – The first appearance of Castle is shy. Better at 3 but still unefficient on drives and on FTs.
    – Catch&shoots for Vassell and Barnes. Those two players were our two best C&S players last season. They are the worst in this preseason.
    – Bryant is unable to finish at the rim. His defense is very good, he is getting more offensive rebounds than Wemby, his 3-point shots start to sink in but his layups are very bad. He should spend some time in G.league as the franchise player to work on all missing aspects of his game.

Globally I am very excited by this team and still think that 45 wins is a minimum for the spurs.

  3. If Carter goes to Austin it would be a waste, much better for him to play with SA at a competitive level , he's ready for the NBA and progress there.

  4. Did you read what I said about HB in your last video?
He did the same last season… Trash during preseason, the most efficient shooter during the season.

  5. I think that Julian, Lindy and Kelly are going to be the 3-point specialists. Luke is a steal of the summer. I'm hoping that maybe Kelly finally found a home and plays well. I still would like the Spurs pickup one more 7-footer next season. Carter and Sochan are going to be a terror on defense this season.

  6. Vassell gonna have to be moved no matter how he plays mid season. Champagnie is shooting so well and Carter needs minutes and even Garcia imo.

  7. Player wise I’m happy that we got good players but would mich Johnson be a good coach now that he had all the offseason to learn the play book

  8. If keldon, sochan, and castle learn how to shoot, the nba is in trouble,
However, I still want franz in a trade

  9. Great take on the state of Spurs Nation this preseason. I agree. I haven't been this excited in 6 years about the upcoming season. With the way the Spurs look, I don't fear any team and we know we can beat any team on any given night. But the one thing I disagree on is Micah Potter. I know he doesn't look great now but I think we are still thin at the forward spot. I think he snags the 15th spot over an aging Biyombo and an already guard heavy roster over Flagler and Umude. Looking forward to a great Spurs season. GO, TSR, GO!!! GO, SPURS, GO!!!!

  10. I think the blood clot was a blessing for Wemby. My one slight complaint about him was his lackadaisical attitude sometimes. Now he knows it's not guaranteed and there's no time like the present. Everyone seems to be feeding off his urgency. Even the scrubs. Hopefully Sochan towes the line. They don't have to wait for him

  11. Harper needs to start pg until Fox returns . we don’t need Harrison Barnes trying to muscle his way into the paint . just shoot 3s & play defense that’s it

  12. I was positively surprised by Carter Bryant during the preseason, especially after what we've seen in the Summer League.

  13. And we're not even at full strength… ☺️

Fox needs to come back… KJ and Kornet are doing great off the bench. Champagnie is shooting over 50% from 3-point range, etc.

Can't wait for the season to start.

    Harper, Bryant, Castle etc…

bench depth is starting to look like something exciting…

    Great team this year 🖤🩶🤍💣💣💣

  14. Your takes were almost identical to my thoughts, and I hadn't even looked at the aggregate box scores yet. This is gonna be a good year but I am certainly concerned about Barnes and Vassell and disappointed in Potter and Minix. DJG flashed the same potential at times but also looked awful at other times. Love the shooting role player potential from Lindy and was ecstatic to see og KJ show up to play. Can't emphasize enough how excited I am for Harper, CB and Kornet. Castle's shooting gave me loads of optimism and Wemby was… well, you know. Also, Champs has never looked better on both ends of the court.

We have no ceiling, and our quality depth is going to SUBSTANTIALLY raise our floor. I also am pretty convinced 50 wins isn't unreasonable.

  15. For those who are already happy with what they see, Sochan, Fox, and Olynyk haven't even played yet. And soon as the Spurs signed Kornet, they had the best backup that Wemby has ever had, by far. With Kornet, now there's no need to worry as much about Wemby going to the bench.

  16. really happy with keldon, he put in a LOT of work over summer! i think this version of keldon is here to stay and in 6th man talks over the seasons ahead! GSG!!!
