  1. I think Russ can be good for us for PG purposes, but we need to get rid of some guards for wing players or even just bigger players, younger players.

  2. I like this move , Russ brings a lot to the table the intangibles that is needed with any team! Can’t wait! Let’s go Kings!

  3. Demar its a example for the locker room for the others players Westbrook his cocky and thinks his good when he sucks ass, nobody respect Westbrook right now. cant shoot no more explosive atcks to the rim he dont give us nothing but we will see

  4. You have a job to do Matt, I don't blame you for having to try to gas light the public into thinking this was at all an intelligent move. Because the fact is, every single kings analyst is going to try to gas light about this move being in the best interest of the franchise when it's truly not. It's sickening.

  5. Dumb & dumber. Just for ticket sales they are wasting a spot and 3.5M

This is so inexcusable. Dumbest owner ever.

  6. I love Russell and I love Dennis and both love each other. What a wonderful news. Fun and Victories and Play-offs. More? All is possible. Now they can play modern and fast basketball with 2 point guards. ❤❤❤❤

  7. As always, good information. Two years ago, the Kings had one of the younger cores now they’re among the oldest; not preferred, but I’m not mad at Westbrook signing – comes cheap at the vet minimum, will be a good mentor, great locker room guy, plays hard, could even be a trade asset down the line.

Regarding lineups, without Keegan Murray, agree that they should experiment tonight and Friday. Don’t think it will work yet, but would love to see Maxine and Sabonis together on the front line, but most realistic lineups for the regular season against bigger teams should be Sabonis and Eubank’s who provides some rim protection and is a pretty good rim runner. Versus smaller teams, Keon Ellis or Clifford probably the answer or even Saric who is one of King’s best three-point shooters on the roster.

I hope Devin Carter still gets some run; a lot of fans hate on him, but they have no idea the good things he does on the defensive end and his ball handling and shooting are starting to come around .

  8. Kings just buried their young players. Someone like Lavine needs to go. Lavine and some draft picks to Toronto for Brandon Ingram or RJ Barrett? They add size. Lavine still has some value and still a good offensive player.

  9. so aquiring russ is about establishing the type play the kings want out of the entire team not to make the roster better or equate to wins? got it

  10. this is a good signing for Sacramento. Russ is a multi-skilled Vet. Teams that sign him believe "we don't need Westbrook", then eventually fans will be leaning on Westbrook's commitment towards winning.

  11. You fuckers weren’t a playoff team last year and you clearly don’t know what Russ brings to a team! You and all the haters will see what having a true point guard does. Not looking to score looking to facilitate

  12. I for one, am not worried about Russ making mistakes. Let the first person on the team who is without mistakes cast the first stone. They win as a team, and the lose as a team.

  13. Now a KINGS FAN-yall are gonna have a blast watching Russ-every teammate loves Russ, he's a blast to watch..He gave at least 10 wins to the nuggets last year when nobody showed up last year and joker has avg game…Same with clippers- before that-the lakers were the anomaly very strange time-but wizards and rockets he was awesome…Let's go kings! Top 6 seed and shock some people…

  14. Don’t forget, Russ brings media coverage to Sacramento, he will make yall relevant just by being there. True culture changer and brings stardom to a team lacking any sense of direction. All for a minimum 😅

  15. Uh, Matt, you put lipstick on pigs much?

Then again, when covering the Kings, this very thing might be in the job description.

The Kings aren't ready to win and Westrbook's not even a longterm fit. You don't bring in culture setting guys on one-year vet minimums on non-contenders. Look at Houston. They had a good collection of young talent and wanted to accelerate their rebuild so they overpaid for VanVleet (an NBA champion which Russ is not) and on Dillon Brooks with a tough-minded coach and the results followed. They invested in both with multi-year contracts. Nor are the Kings a contender looking to add toughness to take a leap. The Thunder last season brought in Caruso (a champion) and Hartenstein and took the leap. The Kings entire roster is a limbo and they have no direction, other than one Perry won't admit publicly, and that is they're waiting out toxic contracts (LaVine) and bad contracts (Sabonis, overvalued on the Kings and undervalued in the wider marketplace) and contracts nobody wants (DeMar). Could the Kings even get a pair of 2nds for DeRozan at this point? What the Kings should be doing is building on their scant core of young guys like 'Nique, Carter, and Keon and giving them reps because the vets (DeMar and LaVine) are basically one foot out the door.

The same mentality that brought DeMar to the Kings is the one bringing Russ to Sactown and it'll inevitably have similar results. Probably worse. The truth is that Westbrick, an MVP, a future HOFer (who's been traded/transacted half-a-dozen times now these last 5 years) had only two suitors this off-season: China and the Kings. That's it. He didn't pick up his player option in Denver because as Stein or Fischer reported, they told him if he did pick up his option, he wasn't going to play much, if at all. He'd be towel-waving at the end of the bench while they gave Strawther, Hardaway Jr. and Bruce Brown his minutes. So now he's on the Kings ready to take reps away from the Keons and Carters and Schroeders of the world.

Just an inane signing. Just listening to really respectable guys like Zach Lowe roast the Kings w/Bill Simmons on the Ringer podcast, you can't help but just shrug your shoulders. The Kings brought this on themselves.
