Top-10 NBA Title Contenders: Nuggets & Thunder top tier + Lakers, Warriors, Cavs, Rockets in mix

With the NBA season right around the corner, Jason breaks down his top-10 TITLE CONTENDERS (not simply the best teams) heading into the 2025 season. He discusses why he has Nikola Jokic’s Denver Nuggets and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Oklahoma City Thunder alone in a top tier with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, and Milwaukee Bucks trailing behind.

  1. If we go back and look at the playoff series, Denver could have very easily lost to OKc in 5 if A
Gordon missed the game winner in game 1. OKc defended Jokic better than anyone and missed a lot of open threes. Nuggets definitely improved but I’m not even sure they make it past the Timberwolves

  2. BEEN had a problem w Jason’s rankings bc not enough credence was given to guys weakness.

Now finally he talks abt a “crippling” weakness. But what defines that’s threshold? If it’s almost crippling does that not count towards a players value?

IMO it all counts. It’s why jokic n Luka have been overrated for yrs n ppl like Tatum have been underrated for yrs. It’s why Tatum wins in the playoffs more than any1 too. Not just w KP n jrue. They’ve consistently challenged for a title since ‘18 damn near

  3. Lakers At 5 😂😂😂… What u mean get through Cleveland somehow like Cleveland’s been to a conference finals😂😂😂… The Knicks don’t have a Top Tier superstar, but you got Cleveland up there and Brunson is Better then Donovan Mitchell especially in the playoffs and the Knicks have been a better Playoff team then Cleveland easy

  4. Clippers could easily be 4th. We made top tier depth additions to compete with said teams. Kawhi looks a lot better and faster this pre season

I'd pick Dallas & the Spurs as contenders for the last spot

We should have more fire power in scoring this yr instead of just defense

  5. Dinging Warriors for age/injury possibility but not Clippers who are an even older and more injury-prone squad is hilarious

  6. I like that you have a Little Rock-paper-scissors going on in the top 3. Nuggets beat Thunder, Thunder beat Cavs, Cavs could beat Denver. Just shows how much parity is still in the league, even at the top

  7. Here’s the ACTUAL top 10 Contenders list:

    1. Denver
    2. Dallas
    3. OKC
    4. Houston
    5. Cleveland
    6. Knicks
    7. Golden State
    8. Minnesota
    9. Lakers
    10. Milwaukee

  8. The warriors at number 9 was actually an insane take and so was saying that steph could only out play Shai or Jokic for a game or 2 but Luka could do it for a whole series?? Steph has outplayed KD, Harden, Luka, Tatum and Brown and was likely gone outplay Ant last year. Minnesota is probably the most overrated team on this list. I would actually say OKC, GSW, DENVER, MAVS, HOU, CLIPPERS, MINNESOTA, LAKERS…. If I'd give grace to. any specific team to be ahead of warriors it would ve Denver because they have more young pieces outside of that i trust no one else

  9. Keep disrespecting Houston. You are forgetting 1 thing. Their core is still ascending. Amen, Jabari, Reed and even Sengun take steps or leaps forward this year as seen in the limited preseason action. Amen hitting 3's. Jabari able to put the ball on the floor and draw foul in addition to the spacing he provides. Reed good enough to see the floor. Sengun looking like an offensive hub. Amen making some nasty passes. Yea there have been points where the ball handling or passing has been shaky. They telegraphic and throw some lazy passes that turn into TO's. Think that will get cleaned up. I'd take the Rockets over 4-6 all day.

  10. I hope jafal is getting his shi* together this season!!! That 🤡 wasted already enough of Jokić's greatness!!!

  11. Are we really expecting Valencuinas, Brown, and THJ to play meaningful and positive minutes for Denver in the playoffs? I love the Cam Johnson addition for Denver but to have that be why you pick them over OKC is crazy.

We just saw a HISTORIC season for OKC from start to finish so you gotta stop moving the goalposts for them. You said they had to prove it first and they did and now they are a few years away from being an “every year team” whatever that means. Strange framing for a team that just won the NBA FINALS. Them matching up better in your opinion is not a justification as there are 30 teams in the league.

Feels like you just simply are not an OKC fan and should just be transparent in whatever your issue is with them.
