Why I’m picking Nikola Jokic’s Nuggets to win NBA title over Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s OKC Thunder
Jason breaks down the top tier of his NBA title contender rankings and why at this moment he’s putting Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, and the Denver Nuggets ahead of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren, and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

CB looks great like he worked worked this offseason. Gordon's 3pt is gonna be crazy. I think them trying more on defense with a great offense is gonna be dangerous…..My Lakers don't have the Grandpa we paid 50 mil to for 3-4 weeks…..
Man, don’t jinx us, Jason
if the refs actually ref a fair game. Denver is winning against those floppers
Meh, OKC's defense consists of fouling and getting away with it.
Nuggets!
Scott Foster have OKC every single blowout they had in the playoffs. He should be banned from playoff bball
LMAO of course you would Jason.
cuz ur a hater
Because you are biased against OKC. Just like last year.
This guy will always be a certified Nuggets glazer
Thunder repeat easily
Luka is not in the same category as shai jokic and giannis. Those guys are mvps and champions.
Why don’t you just tell the truth? You’ve always been an OKC hater, you’ve always been an SGA hater, and you would never pick them even if you actually thought they were the best team. You’re so upset you were so wrong last season you feel the need to double down for one last opportunity to say you were right. OKC probably won’t win, that’s what history tells us, but for you to title the thumbnail “why you’re picking Denver over OKC” or whatever it says as if anyone actually believed you were going to in the first place is just so pathetic and thirsty.
Nuggets are lining up so well in every way. Motivation- joker and AG always 100%, Murray wants to be all star and in shape for first time, Braun in contract year, Cam wants to win with new team, bench ready to roll.
Braun improved his shooting similar to AG last off season. Joker and AG can rest without nuggets going -12 in 4 minutes. Versatile bench that can shoot. I'm betting the house on the Nuggs to win it all!
I don’t get why you’re still measuring OKC’s capabilities to last season’s series while also acknowledging that Denver has gotten better. The series against Denver was the worst offensively they played that entire run—and not solely due to Denver’s incredible defensive effort. They made so many unforced errors and missed open looks that otherwise would have fallen (Lu Dort for instance, shot 41% in the regular season, shot 15/47 in that series, which is 10% lower on mostly open looks). Denver has gotten better, yes, but again so has OKC. Even last season, Chet looked phenomenal with a full offseason before his injury, he’ll probably look even better, JDub improved into being an all-NBA/all-Defence player. Cason Wallace, Aaron Wiggins, Jaylin Williams, Ajay Mitchell, are all players who will look significantly more improved this season.
They still have Dort and Caruso who are still top level defenders.
And they now have Topic coming back, who will ease any concerns anyone has about their playmaking this year.
Even in the preseason, their second round pick (Brooks Barnhizer) has looked really good so far. He may end up being another steal for them.
And if they NEED to make further moves, they can easily move off of Dieng and their draft picks.
I do fully believe that all of these factors outweigh adding Cam Johnson, Bruce Brown, Valaciunas, and their young players developing.
I’m sorry but OKC is the best team in the league, and the fact that they were able to beat Denver at their worst solidifies that until proven otherwise.
Dead wrong! Okc defense is still the best, if not all time. Shai is going to be better, not to mention Jdub & Chet. Jokic's defense is still suspect, Denver definitely added more depth. But you are going up against an all time defense. You better bring more than one superstar. Okc in 5, maybe 6 or 7 if AG goes crazy clutch again
Oh no
Keepin my mind this guy had nuggest in 5 last year. Also hates the thunder!
Good luck with your prediction but I don’t see anyone beating a healthy OKC team. J-Dub and Chet were hurt. And OKC young guys will just get better 🤷🏾♂️
Lmaoo so Denver matches up well with OKC but not vice versa. OKC negates every thing Denver does well with their defense and OKC is a way better team than they were last year.
OKC has improved significantly every year for the last 3 years. I think that trend will continue, though more in other players than SGA. He is already so good that more improvement is difficult for him. He could improve his 3 point shooting, as could the whole team.
If OKC gets home court thru the playoffs. NO ONE stands a chance! Only way is Denver wins the reg season
Here just to read the rage in the comments again lol
Somehow "They are very evenly matched, I give the nod to Denver for having the league's best player and the best squad he's ever had around him" translated to "OKC sucks and can't possibly beat Denver" to way too many viewers 😅
Think about this: A few of those players from Oklahoma said that Denver was the biggest worry. They said they felt as though they could do all things right and still potentially lose. And that was against a broken, benchless Denver team that had just fired its coach. This ain't that Denver team anymore.
Nuggets fan that thinks this is a bold prediction. Not an unreasonable one but definitely bold. Personally at this point I can't quite take the Nuggets to win it all because I want to see how the new additions fit in and how Denver's much greater versatility pans out. The Nuggets were a tough matchup for OKC last year–the two teams played 11 times in the regular season and playoffs and OKC won 6 and obviously the playoff series went 7. On paper this Nuggets team is much better than last year's team and probably even the championship team .But I'm going to wait until Jan 1 to make an evaluation of Denver's chances. Until then I'm going with OKC out of respect for what they did last year. They'll be better this season too. Anyway, the WC is going to be so crazy. Can't wait.
I disagree as i believe OKC has greater upside growth potential above Denver this season and will pull away from Denver. However, i dont disagree with the logic of this take. It all comes down to the depth around Joker when it comes to the finals.
Are you sure you’re a Laker fan? Sounds like you’ve embraced the Nuggets ever since you moved here.. and I love it!
Great video
Lol 😆
Hope to see some DNVR crossover/collabs this season
