The New and Improved Rockets Offense
The Houston Rockets offense looked pretty bleak when Fred Van Vleet went down with a torn ACL. But so far this preseason, there’s been a lot of promise because of a sudden shift in the offense. We talk about what those shifts are and how it actually makes the Rockets offense a lot more dangerous.

Im happy to see they're figuring it out, I'm just not sure if I trust them to do it consistently
the new and improved rockets offense
would Sengun would be more ideal if he's at the elbows if he's not shooting 3's? KD would be ideal as well at the elbows as well. love the breakdown!
Do the Knicks 🧡💙
The Turkish Terminator
As a nuggets fan, you guys are gonna hate it when OKC puts alex caruso on Sengun and he can’t dribble anymore. Then the rockets can’t make an entry pass because they don’t have point guards.
KD is like MPJ and Murray combined, Thompson/Tari as a target man in the dunker spot like Gordon, and Sengun with the Jokic role as a hub in the elbow
if they just follow the nuggets playbook, they'll be fine
They are one Jabari leap away from being a top 5 offense, easily
I would love to see a Amen being developed as the PG some more. I think he could be a Ben Simmons mold of player.
have played some horrendous comp thus far in preseason but highest orating in 3 games. Looks funky but promising.
Kevin Durant is so corny.
they can bring out a monster lineup:
amen thompson 6'7
sengun 6'11
Kevin durant 6'11
jabari smith 6'11
steven adams 6'11
I usually enjoy your work, but implying that someone having a possibly career altering injury is a “blessing in disguise” is pretty brain dead.
fun times
We got Serbian Jokic, Turkish Jokic, Chinese Jokic now
Vanvleet slows down the offense, low IQ, a ball hog
This really is eerily similar to Nurkic vs Jokic on the nuggets where once Nurkic(Fred) got injured they were forced to use Jokic(Sengun) full time. This also happen to the rockets in 22-23 where for 10 games Silas thought Bruno Fernando was a better option defensively for the Rockets until he got injured and never started over Sengun again.
Wish you waited until this pelicans Game because we pulled out multiple HUGE lineups which caused havoc for them
This reminds me of David Lee getting injured in 2014-15 season which forced Kerr to put Green into the starting lineup. And the rest is history.
loll Fred was a big reason Warriors won. He put up so many stinkers
rockets vs nuggets is going to be a mirror match.
Van Fleet washed, go with the young gun Sheppard
lol it's gonna be funny when the rockets get bounced again
Who's bringing the ball up the court under pressure? You don't want Sengun doing it
Damn Reed Sheppard hasn't developed yet. yikes
0:42 OHHH NAHH u aint do ma boy fred like dat😭😭😭
With Fred out, who is gonna handle the on ball pressure? You know teams like to pressure like high schools nowadays taking advantage of players are getting worse and worse at dribbling the ball
1 guard, 3 forward, 1 center or 3 forward, 2 center.
Man
Defense will take a step back and turnovers will increase.Should be an interesting season..Rockets must maintain their identity of: depth, toughness/grit and defense….
Im HOUSTON RAISED AND BORN… AMEN WAS A PG WHEN WE DRAFTED HIM HE WILL BE FINE PLAYING THE ROLE THAT HE KNOWS HOW TO PLAY. KD WILL NOT BE BEGGING FOR THE BALL, THIS IS FINNA BE REAL 90s STYLE TYPE OF BASKETBALL WE FINNA SEE IN THESE ROCKETS ROCKETS PLAY.. GOOD BALL MOVEMENT AND GOOD DEFENSE… AND GET READY FOR SOME POSTER/HIGHLIGHT PLAYS 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
What concerns me is the elephant in the room – the Rockets defense. Currently in preseason, they’ve played the Hawks, an average team. They’ve also played the Jazz and the Pelicans, two teams that finished at the bottom of the Western Conference last year. Yet the Rockets are giving up over 125 points per game. That kind of defense is not gonna get them deep into the playoffs. What really concerned me last night is how a team like the Pelicans could dominate the paint so easily. There was no interior Rockets defense whatsoever. We’ll see how the Rockets do in their second match up with the Hawks in Atlanta. But the big test will be next week when they face the OKC Thunder in the first regular season game. By then, they better start figuring out their defense.
Man these Rockets are going to be lethal. Better watch out for Sengun he’s a star.
I think the Rockets are gonna have a great season. Fred's playmaking is overrated (as shown in the vid). The Rockets had half-court issues that Fred didn't fix last postseason, so why are people acting like losing him is a huge hit now? Sengun will take over in that role comfortably.
I don't understand this change where centers have become better point guards than most point guards. It seems like the role of a point guard is just now a shooting guard who gets a few more assists and a center is now the actual point guard.
A team struggling with their halfcourt offense and then adding Kevin Durant is so cool
37 year old KD would be by FAR the worst 1st option on a Championship level team. This is the most important key to success. So I think all else is elementary.
Would you prefer to have KD or Brandon Ingram at this stage of their careers?
If Sengun and Capela who’s got the best hands, can get it going on the PNR lob, that’s dangerous and unstoppable cause both can finish around the rim.
Finally someone understands. Its sengun who our offense depends on.
The Rockets are being hyped just like the Hawks are in the East. I don’t buy it
KD gonna ruin you guys, lfg !
Sengun also was massive at the Eurobasket just a few weeks ago, dude really looks like he's about to go to the next level
Check out FVV's numbers. Decent counting stats but not very good advanced stats: he was not efficient and he didn't make his teammates better. So this could be addition by subtraction.
BUT also check out KD's numbers. Still elite counting stats, but his advanced stats were well out of all star range. So has he dropped off a lot or was PHX really that bad, dragging his advanced stats down? The answer will determine whether HOU is a contender this year.
I was saying this… for what they give up offensively Jalen Green and FVV are a liability of defense,. More time for the young long athletic guys and they look like they could be up to it. All that space they cover together can be suffocating. Manage KD's minutes and they could be a contender at the end of the season.
The offense doesn’t look improved. We’re still winning off defense and second chance points . Same as last season
Ice the ball handler? What did that mean?
Can't wait to keep watching this offense man it's going to be unreal
Fvv injury is a blessing in disguise. He stagnated the offense alot & his only playmaking was to Sengun tbh. Ive already seen Reed make corner passes this preseason that Fvv never did. Plus he just got paid so he’s chilling lol.
nahhhh kd will bring them no where. i feel bad for the young roster tho. they will decline with kd around
Appreciate these videos mane really putting the coaching on display easy to forget they running plays sometimes
