The Spurs are SCARIER Than You Think
The San Antonio Spurs are looking scary going into this NBA season with an improving Victor Wembanyama, an impressive preseason from Dylan Harper, a full season ahead of De’Aaron Fox and growth from Stephon Castle, and more. They feel like they could take a leap this season like the Houston Rockets did last year and break into that upper echelon if everything clicks. Not to mention they could make a trade for someone like Giannis Antetokounmpo if they decide to. Let’s talk about it.

Wemby is not built to last. He plays 50 games max
Spurs will be good but they have a roster issue – too many guards that aren’t great shooters.
I’d love to see them trade one for a wing or stretch 4
Give me more spurs propaganda 😤😤
As a Spurs fan, I've waited a very long time for this season. Wemby is going to better than anyone can imagine.
47 wins. 4th in West.
Talking about trading players right now is blasphemy.
I def agree, one guard has to go, and my opinion dearron fox has the most value on the trade block. Get a nice wing in exchange for fox. I'd even trade for someone like Brandon Ingram, Pascal, Randle, scottie barnes, demar, andrew wiggins
Spurs should be a top 8 seed in the West. Anything less and the claim of Wemby being top 10 is shaky imo
I’ve heard a lot that you should have Harper and Fox on at the same time.
As a Spurs fan, I think top 5 seed is probably the ceiling (hard to see the Spurs with a better record than the Thunder, Nuggets, Rockets, and Wolves at the end of the year), but that's still really exciting.
I'm pumped for the season!
The people who doubted Victor dont know basketball. Barring health he will be everything that people have been saying he will be. Plus hes still growing (which might be bad) and his frame is starting to fill out. It will be over for the league in the next few years
Spurs look great — on paper. Now let's see what they accomplish.
Crazy to think, but I don’t think Houston is a serious title contender.
5:51 WHY NOT THE WOLVES?! 🐺
I just want everybody to realize that we have not seen Victor Wembanyama and DeAaron Fox duo… first of all we saw them for what like five games last year? Are we even counting that? If we are even if that’s the case Victor was playing with a deep vein thrombosis that we didn’t know about and Fox was playing with a messed up shooting hand. So even when we saw them we didn’t really see them. Victor and the Spurs look this good during preseason and Jeremy and Fox have not even stepped on the court with them yet… just keep that in mind…
back half of the play-in??? No chance. They will finish no lower than #6.
Unfortunately Dev will not be good, he needs a lot of shots to be in rhythm and he’s going to be on the chopping block sooner than later
The kornet signing is one of those under the radar signings that spurs fans will look back on like wow what a grab
The years the Spurs dominated was due to our bench. Tim would hold the lead and Manu would come off the bench with guys like Patty Mills, Boris Diaw and stretch the lead. Wemby is going to be great but the Spurs finally a dangerous bench again.
Dylan Harper playing the PNR like Manu tbh
Excellent playmaking too
If anyone’s getting traded it’s likely DV and/or Keldon
U R 4getting that Mavz N Memphis who missed playoffs last year will return to playoffs this year. Then there Sunz who underachieved N will B back . Every team in da west is betta than SA rt now except Utah. Yes that inc Portland N New Orleans so other than da play-in there still not ready for playoffs. Unless one or two of the top teams have massive injuries or we make a trade or trades at mideason. All these picks comini. Near future should scare the leagie if only just one or two turn out to b steals. Also if morons here in SA liaten to our stupid useless mayor N not to vote for da new arena Spurs will.move to Las Vegas n join their ex WNBA team n win rings over there. Vote yes U stupid DEMOCRAT VOTERS.
spurs fan here mark my words come back an look at this comment but we smackin up all them teams u names ahead of us
I completely understand doubting that they will be good this season, but it’s crazy talk to say they couldn’t possibly be that good – the floor raising from wemby alone, an all star starting pg in fox and maybe not the most figured out core but they’ve certainly well established themselves as a team. It’s hard not to buy into this team
I've seen the script.
The day the spurs take a 3-1 lead on OKC in the playoffs is the day they find out the Atlanta pick swap they have jumped to the 3rd pick in the draft.
I can’t even describe how badly I want a thunder spurs series
if Wemby, Fox, Harper and Castle all come remotely close to their respective ceilings, the Spurs will not be able to pay all four of the max money or even super max money. So the idea of trading Fox, Harper or Castle for a “another star to help Wemby” is a flawed concept. They’ll end up trading one of them for draft picks.
lol in no world would wemby have gotten 1st team
As a spurs fan the key is a couple of guys being good with on all defense and their leap in 3pt shooting
WeMVP!!!
Last season, with CP3 (cooked defensively), 3 on 4 lineups with the most minutes including Wemby had NetRating of +16, +12 and +11.
This season with a better Wemby and Fox instead of CP3, the main lineups with Wemby should be very positive in NetRating.
The main problem last season was the NetRating of the second unit lineups (without Wemby) : apocalytic mainly because :
1) Collins benched after his middle finger's raise and Bassey injured, this is Sochan who played backup 5 (for absolutely no rim protection at all).
2) Branham, Wesley and Bassey are just not NBA caliber players. They should play in Europe or China…
3) Collins, Jones and Mamu are under average players. Their NBA career will be very short.
This season, the only presence of Kornet, NBA top5 rim protector with the Celtics, will bring a strong defense for the second unit. The players who will play in this second unit are also much more talented.
In conclusion, the NetRating of the lineups without Wemby should really be better this season.
Mecanically the Spurs should then play much closer games, even against the best teams. Having Wemby and Fox very clutch in the money time should bring several "unexpected" wins.
My prediction is then 45 wins minimum.
This season, the number of teams closed to 50 wins should be much lower because Utah is the only very weak team in the western conference. The Pels could be better, Portland will be better, Dallas will be better, SA will be better,… all these teams will get more wins reducing the number of wins of the best teams (most of them with old players who could be injured).
In conclusion, I don't think that the 6th seed will be played at 48 wins.
I haven’t been a fan since Bruce Bowen played for the Spurs god knows when. I was offered a seat the other day and saw the Utah Jazz game. This is pretty exciting coming back after all this time.
i already see spurs competing for championship this season, theyre really hungry and the work ethics from wemby this offseason is what makes him more scarier this season and the results is really enjoying.
