Hunter is not even close to Colin Sexton's level of tunnel visioning and ball hogging. That stuff with Sexton was outrageous.
Wonder if we'll see more Strus at the 2 this year. If LNJ and Wade are the primary backup 4s now, and Hunter then plays more exclusively at the 3, Strus may need to play more at shooting guard just to get the minutes he deserves. Would like to see this team lean into size this season
Tyson's shot in the last 2 games of preseason looked much better than it did in the first 2. If you're looking for scoring and creation in the 2nd unit, that could be him driving and kicking from the wing. He has solid handles, control, and vision. Have we forgotten that his game looks like Caris?
Our wing depth will never be “elite” especially in the playoffs if dean wade and max strus are key parts of that wing depth. Max is a great role player and competes defensively but he cant be one our few POA defenders, and for wade hes great defensively but unfortunately his offense is so painfully bad especially in the playoffs that he cant even be on the floor cause his defense dosent make up for his lack of offense. We are still a player or two away from really having an elite wing depth
So refreshing for the season to be back, just one thing I’d like to point out on your point about max at 14:30, I think one small thing you’re forgetting about is during the post season, max will now play with Mobley or Allen during those minutes when only one of them is in the floor and Darius won’t be, so hopefully that helps Mobley and Allen play stung more meaningful minutes.
I'm not the biggest Dean Wade fan and it is frustrating to watch him sometimes, but I don't think they should let him go yet.
He's a 6'9" wing who can shoot and play defense. Those type of guys are coveted in the league. That's why teams were asking about him in the summer. Plus like you said, Wade is not as important to the team this year and it is a luxury to have a 6 9 defensive wing that deep in the rotation. If the Cavs were more dependent on Wade and didn't have as much depth then it would be more of an issue. For now I'd keep him.
Guys who can play the 3:
Hunter, Strus, Wade, Tyson, Merrill, Nance, Lonzo, Tomlin… Mitchell, Mobley.
