Reed is such a bad defender huh. Lol being a 6’8 wing doesn’t automatically make you good shoutout rui hachiumara. Reed is a special defender. Iq, instincts, awareness is off the charts it’s simple pair him with a on ball defensive guard because he is a off ball defensive wrecker
His off-season training is really showing. Reed's defense is insane. All he needs to do now is be more consistent with the 3 and he'll be one of the most dangerous players on the court. Im excited to see his growth
I've watched all of the films I could find after the Rockets took him at #3. Something very very special about this young guy. Tonight against the Hawks, which did play most of their starters, he did put up crazy numbers again on his basically 4th start in the NBA.
Great take on Reed. His D is so F…in special. Yes, INSANE is a great word for Reed's game. 7 takeaways in 29 minutes vs ATL…4 Steal + 3 Blocks
He is so legit on D and I believe he will raise the all-time bar for PG and maybe all future guards (Amen will be hard to beat).
He also had 29 pts in 29 minutes + 6 boards and 6 assists + only 2 TOs for a 3.5 ratio(also elite). WOW, great line. Plus, he has things he needs to clean up in his game.
The Rockets future Big-3 will be Reed, Amen and Sengun…Jabari and Tari are going to be extremely hard to deal with too…The Rockets' final young core of the rebuild.
Stone drafted an insane starting 5 (or bring Tari off the bench…if they want) and they are all young…21, 22, 23, 22 & 24 respectively.
I love these D stats and have been sharing it since the end of last season (even before he was drafted)…Plus, I added Reed's Preseason & Summer League numbers. Steals + Blocks per game comparison of great D point guards, plus the SG GOAT & GOAT. Notice Reed's consistency on all level of BB…this is no fluke.
3.1781 – Michael Jordan (best D SG ever) 3.0000 – Reed Sheppard (2025 preseason – 4 games) 2.3803 – John Stockton (best D PG ever) 2.3490 – Allen Iverson 2.3053 – Amen Thompson (2.6957 last season) 2.2122 – Chris Paul
2.1667 – Reed Sheppard (NBA Rookie Season – 18 games with 15 minutes or more per game)
2.0449 – Gary Payton 2.0000 – Reed Sheppard (2024 preseason – 4 games) 1.8183 – Fred VanVleet
1.7866 – Steph Curry
For all you non-believers that are saying Reed is too small…notice that only one PG on this list is taller than Reed…Payton by 1". All I have to say is…know what you are talking about before you open your PIE-HOLE. OUT
Reed is a very interesting piece defensively for the Rockets and I really love that he’s getting coached by Udoka on this team. I think in terms of straight on ball defense, he might be the worst among the Rockets core players, but only because the rest of them have become so good under Udoka. But they’re all so unique in the way they defend. But for Reed, even if he’s not as good on ball, he’s maybe the best defensive playmaker or at least the most willing defensive playmaker. I’m sure Amen and Tari can get more stocks if gambled more. Reed basically lets the Rockets play him the way DeMeco Ryan employs Jalen Pitre. Reed is basically a free safety who can roam the floor while the rest of his teammates lock opponents down. Once he and Amen really start to build chemistry, watch out because Amen is the type of guy who can literally guard 2 players at once, which lets Reed gamble even more for stocks.
CAP! Jalen Johnson didn't play and neither did Dyson Daniels. I still think the Rockets would have won the game even without KD, Sengun, and Amen Thompson. The Rockets have a really good coach who demands defense. The Hawks don't have that.
I been saying that the Rockets should have Reed Sheppard start some pre-season games.
I also been saying that Jalen Green should have gotten the boot after the 2023–24 season while Reed and Cam Whitmore should have played more in his place.
his high IQ sees positioning which his quick feet gets him to, he's stealing, poking, and disrupting like crazy…His offense is filling nicely into the type of player you expect, has stuff/swag you want to see Kon Knueppel grow.

breakout season incoming?
That was a decent game, nothing INSANE about it.
If only Rob Dillingham's coach could give him a green light just like that 😂😅

Reed looks worthy of starting ? Defense is good, playmaking and shooting !

Can we get some pixels? Thats tough to look at.

Kid looks like he's going to be special. He's much more aggressive when not playing with the guys higher in the pecking order.
If Reed and Jabari can shoot over 37 % from 3
Oh man my Rockets might win a chip
Atlantas starters got beat by Houstons THIRD STRING
I want to see him have an impactful game playing with tye starters. I have yet to see that. When he plays with that unit, he looks indecisive.
great plays

Every single time he's had big minutes he delivers, including last year. He's going to have great looks all game when playing with starters.
His daddy was a baller back in the day when Kentucky was a powerhouse.
really pulling and screaming to see him come around
type shii
a lot of these type channels are annoying at delivering commentary. you are not, have a good day. first vid i’ve seen from you

Mark Price 2.0?

Kid is highly intelligent and competent. And he has the skills to match.
