Back to Our Roots | 25-26 Hardwood Classic
In 1980, Norm Sonju and Don Carter founded the NBA’s newest team, the Dallas Mavericks. In its formative years, the Mavericks assembled a versatile roster of players, navigated the road to building a solid brand identity and satiated a fanbase hungry for a new professional sports team in North Texas. Thanks to a series of strategic draft moves and aggressive playmaking, the Mavericks propelled themselves to their first playoff appearance in 1984, followed by consecutive playoff runs and a Western Conference Finals appearance in 1988.
Throughout this 45th anniversary season, MFFLs are invited to go back in time to celebrate the birth of the franchise with a throwback to the fan-favorite Hardwood Classic collection and court. The Mavericks will also honor Hardwood Classic icons, including Sonju, Brad Davis, Derek Harper, Rolando Blackman, Mark Aguirre, and Reunion Arena.
