The offense suck
Offense suck barley any shot creation hardy and bwill need to play more
Leaving the starters in even part of the 4th quarter just because the first three quarters were so embarrassing definitely wasn't a good look. Last time I remember this level of "it's only preseason" talk around this team was the 2017 season. They let Tyson and Monta walk in 2015 after the Rondo trade disaster and had a disappointing 2016 season where they traded for Nerlens Noel at the deadline to shore up the defense. They signed Harrison Barnes for a max in the offseason and Mavs fans were hyping up the team as reloaded and ready to go. They were really bad in preseason but "it was only preseason", until they started 2-13 en route to snapping their playoff streak. Not saying that's the case again although that might actually be for the best because our 2026 pick is the only one we control for years
We might have to give credit and notice to PJ's development. The hype is Flagg at point guard in said jumbo lineup with Klay at the 2 but really it's been PJ initiating and being that point Forward and he has done a marvelous job so far this preseason. Definitely looks sharper compared to last season.
The problem is coop shouldnt be starting he has no iso game his passing is mid we need shot creation in the starting lineup

The problem is the mavs kinda play to the level of whoever they’re up against. If the other team’s missing key players or just running second or third stringers, the Mavs tend to chill and coast through the game, thinking they can just flip the switch later and still win. But that mindset’s risky. They should be going all out, no matter who’s on the other side. But of course, this is still preseason.
I am really worried about the scoring on this team . We are top heavy on defense but if you can’t score it is kind of a wash .
Once the defense rounds into form, it’s going to create turnovers which generates fast break points on the other end. That’s going to be crucial.
There are going to be times when the offense struggles, but a suffocating defense can keep us in the game. That’s a huge luxury and the ideal way to construct a team. Offense can be finicky, but defense is all about effort. Kidd has a deep bench which means he can keep running fresh bodies out there to maintain the defensive intensity.
Don’t forget that Flagg struggled shooting the ball last year for the first handful of games yet finished the season at 38% from 3. He also ran pick and roll with Maluach something like 300 times over the course of last season. I mention these things because I think Flagg has the ability to space the floor and be the primary ball handler which is what this team needs. He may struggle as he gets used to the nba, but he has shown the ability to rise to the level of his competition.

Its a valid critique. Mavs only won cos LA played Bronny and Koloko in the same game. 2 of the top5 worst players in the NBA, imo…

Caleb Martin didn't play minute either but their defense fits the team. It's just preseason. Watch the defensive identity grow a few games into the regular season

Bench 3 point shooting is better than starters.
The Mavs play a methodical brand of basketball that punishes teams over the course of a game. By the time you get to the fourth quarter teams are going to be wore out from all that seize think Dallas Cowboys of the 90's. Its hard to sustain hitting 3's all game long theirs only a few teams that can do it. I'm excited for the season to start!

AD JUST had the most efficient 25 point game now if that didn’t matter cause it’s preseason then AD’s performance in a preseason blowout shouldn’t matter either.

The Mavs need a solid 3 and D Shooting guard. Max Christie and Klay has been pretty bad.
We need a better guard, Nembhard is good but we gotta have a better guard that can create plays and handle the ball. Klay Thomas shots aren’t consistent he’s still playing the same as last season. Someone needs to step up offensively.
Will it be a bad idea to waive Exum and sign Malik Beasley while he’s still out there for sum shooting?
