The Sacramento Kings have filled their roster with loads of aging talent, yet still have obvious limitations on both sides of the ball that’ll force them to make tough decisions moving forward. So what can we expect in 2026?

  1. I actually like Schröder, Ellis, LaVine, Murray and Sabonis.

Schröder's ability to play off ball and control the game from there is ideal next to LaVine & Sabonis and he gives you another solid point-of-attack defender. That's like a +6 or +8 lineup.

Although to be good they'd need to turn Ellis into like OG

But everything after those 5 makes zero sense.

  2. The Kings now with the addition of Russ have a logjam of about 4 similar players (Monk, Dennis, Russ and Ellis. Something needs to happen in a trade for a Big to Help Sabonis out in the frontcourt.

  3. I wish DeRozan would embrace his destiny as the lead second unit creator on a contender.

Like what Joe Johnson did in Utah.

DeRozan is so good and should be appreciated more but as a starter he just doesn't work. His game is too idiosyncratic and the flaws outweigh the strengths. But he would tear up bench units and flaws matter way less when the team actually needs the kind of floor raising he provides.

  4. Sad franchise. I thought they had turned the corner when they realized how good Sabonis and Fox were, and then they went out and built the worst possible team around Sabonis's skill set. They need to blow it up, free Sabonis, and focus on acquiring young talent and picks for the future, but knowing them, they really will pull a Bulls and continue fighting with a mediocre roster for a play-in spot year in, year out.

  5. Westbrook is know for bringing out the best versions of his teammates, I think they will be dangerous not a threat to win, but a a dark horse team that will make teams play hard and still be one of the most entertaining teams in the league, LETS GO WESTBROOK!!!

  6. Derozan mucks up their offensive identity. He needs the game to slow down and doesn't work well with Domas, on top of forcing Murray to slide up to the 4, while he's definitely more comfortable at the 3

  7. Kings traded away Haliburton for Sabonis, at the time Fox was the guy and leading them in crunch time so it was understandable but still a massive gamble letting go of an incredible talent. Hindsight, Sabonis didn't pay off to winning in the playoffs.

Then last year they fired Brown and dumped Fox for Lavine, who is on the back end of his talent. They literally have zero talent they had built around and now have a frankenstein squad.

At some point its not an issue of team personnel and an upper management issue.

  8. Bench DeRozan, move Sabonis to 4, acquire a real center like Valanciunas to play a twin towers lineup. We've got perimeter defense for days anyways

  9. I get it not wanting to lose fox for nothing but holy shit. This team would struggle in the east. I think they just need to make these boys look as good as possible and fire sell

  10. Derozan, Lavine, Sabonis and Westbrook are all NON winning players. Raptors never wouldve won with him as the main guy. These are all empty stat players lol and thats the reality

  11. this team about to be mediocre and a play in exit again, that kings owner is a clown and one of the worst owners in the nba right now, I hope Mike brown and the Knicks whoop them by 30 when they play them

  12. they had a future with

    Fox
    Ellis
    Keegan
    Barnes
    Sabonis

    Trey Lyes
    Heurter
    Davion Mitchell
    Malik Monk
    Terrance davis

is a very good team. If they kept that and kept running it back they woulda been fine

  13. All GMs are preparing for this team to be separated upcoming offseason and they are excited ! They have so so many gems that need to be in other situations 😅

  14. If you would have told me this was gonna be the kings team after our 22-23 play appearance. I would be jumping off a bridge that same night

  15. I think the biggest problem with the kings rn is their contracts. Both sabonis and lavine make near 50 million a year for the next 2 years. They can't trade them without attaching picks. So i think the idea of the front office is to put out the best product they can the next 2 years without spending too many assets and then hit the rebuild button starting in '27.

  16. kings wont blow it up, they'll lose every good asset and be mid forever lol its just who the front office is

  17. I’m a die hard kings fan and I watch every single game and for the past 2 years I have been saying this team will be mid as long as Sabonis is here. Idc how many boards he gets or how many assists he gets he is TERRIBLE at everything else. We have to help him defend in the paint CONSTANTLY which leaves to us getting torched from 3. Just trade him please god

  18. Bro, its the owner. Us fans here know. He refuses to rebuild because he wants to sale tickets. Hence why we have old ass big name players like Derozan.

  19. great video man. you nailed it. the over inflated contracts on this team make it impossible for them to truely blow it up and develop the young core. We're just kinda stuck for the next two years. nothing new to kings fans tho.

  20. I think u run it with old heads. If it doesn’t work by the all star break blow it up and put the young guys in and get picks.

  21. The end of this video sums up the kings for the last 15+ years. It’s what we call NBA purgatory. Too good to get a top draft pick, too bad to do anything in the playoffs. Plus we’re a small market so we can’t rely on free agency. It’s a miserable existence

  22. I think they’ll be a surprise. They have a scrappy defensive bench unit that I think can generate some turnovers and fast break points. With a PG like Russ, who imo should start, I think you have a starting 5 that’s gonna score with the best of them.

A lot of these guys are gonna get moved too. So who knows what the roster will be in February.

  23. Incredible breakdown. As a life long Kings fan, I’m done being delusional. It’s sad it’s got to the point. I want a true tank but I don’t think the NBA will reward us anymore, they’ve given us chances

  24. No matter how bad the overpaid oldster starters are, there’s no way Christie has the balls to sit them and play the youngsters. The kings are screwing their potentially talented youngsters for these old has bend. This franchise is EASILY the worst run in all of sports.

  25. This roster literally had no thought put into it as if kings just tried to get whatever good players on paper they could get and hope something happens
