Hornets GO NUCLEAR, score 145 | LaMelo’s highlight of the PRESZN | Miles Bridges DOMINATES Grizzlies
The Hornets played their best game of the preseason, dropping 145 points on Memphis in a contest highlighted by an unbelievable nutmeg alley-oop from LaMelo Ball to Brandon Miller. We’ll look at the incredible performances from Miles Bridges, the energy of Moussa Diabaté, and what this offensive outburst means for the regular season.
That was, by far, the best game of the preseason. The Hornets went nuclear, putting up 145 points in a performance that felt like a return to the fun, league pass darlings of a few years ago. The entire game was capped off by an unbelievable, all-star caliber play: LaMelo Ball with a nutmeg on Jock Landale into a full-court, left-handed alley-oop to a streaking Brandon Miller.
We have to start with Miles Bridges, who was the player of the game with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists on incredible efficiency. He’s getting his points in a variety of ways, from spot-up jumpers to transition finishes, showcasing a more sustainable shot diet. We’ll also examine the contagious energy of Moussa Diabaté, who has become a fan favorite by creating countless second-chance opportunities and cleaning the glass with nine offensive rebounds. His chemistry with Collin Sexton off the bench has been a revelation, and we’ve officially dubbed them the “MoCo” duo. The question now is, what does this all mean? We’ll consider if this level of execution is real, especially with three key rotation players still out, and what it says about the team’s new, faster pace.

I was at the game tonite. Other than the s*+t show getting in the door at the First Horizon Center (50 minute mob scene getting thru security) it couldn't have been better. There's no film highlights that can possibly do justice to the plays Ball made in the 2nd half. The nutmeg/lob to Miller was top of the list but there were half a dozen other plays he made where we just said wow. And Sexton is the perfect addition to this team. So glad nobody got hurt cause there were a lot of bodies hitting the hardwood.

Just imagine if Melo was a white player! Imagine if this was Cooper Flagg, they would be saying he’s the best thing in the world since salt was discovered. 🤦🏽♂️ He makes the game look so easy and enjoyable. Nobody has this kind of appeal on the sport!
Just got back from the game. I was able to watch pretty closely what was happening on and around the bench and I'm going to be honest, I was VERY IMPRESSED with Charles Lee — when somebody needed to be held accountable, they were pulled out of the game and it was discussed what went wrong. I think we're in great hands with Lee and to a lesser extent some of his assistants and even the guys in plain clothes tonight like Dinwiddie and Josh Green seemed invested. Celebrations were genuine. Winning was palpable.
Sexton and Diabate off of the bench is diabolical — the energy level was just tremendous every time they came in. At one point, Lamelo and Brandon got into it — rightly, because Miller kind of hogged the ball and missed a lay when Lamelo was absolutely on fire — this argument coming in a more or less meaningless preseason game where they were up by 20 and the lead was growing.
We could have easily pulled our starters in the 2nd half, but they were going deep into the 4th. Throughout the squad, there is an obvious willingness to do what is needed to win and that hasn't been in Charlotte in a long time. That said, wrap Lamelo in plastic and lets get to opening night — 'cause I got tickets to that too!
Big expectations after what I watched. I had a perfect angle on both Lamelo to Miles alleys and I absolutely lost it after the Lamelo to Brandon one. Best dunk I've seen live by far.
Great time to be a fan if you got anybody to help get on the wagon.

With so many good shooters, someone will always find themselves open for 3P, we need to knock down those wide open shots. I think I count at least 3-4 missed wide open shots from 3P. Having said that, great win, everyone seemed to be buy in and playing their role.

I love the way that we moved the ball around. Making extra passes for open shots. Also the way we inbound the ball quickly after an opponent make, keeping the pace and tempo up. This was fun basketball to watch!

If he can improve his efficiency from last season he’ll have a great year.
