The Hawks will lean on superstar point guard Trae Young’s playmaking and scoring to set the tone, while Porziņģis provides a new dimension in the frontcourt to keep defenses honest. Toronto, meanwhile, is embarking on what feels like a “now” moment after adding Brandon Ingram and relying on young cornerstone Scottie Barnes to make the leap.

From a stylistic perspective, this matchup sets up as an intriguing contrast. The Hawks will look to push the pace, create spacing around Young’s drive-and-kick game, and exploit mismatches with Porziņģis stretching the floor or rolling inside. With Atlanta’s depth now deeper, they’ll try to begin the season with momentum at home. Toronto’s strength will likely revolve around their defensive identity and how quickly the Ingram-Barnes pairing can click; meanwhile they’ll need others to step up offensively, as shooting from the supporting cast remains a question.

Ultimately, while the Raptors have the potential to keep things tight, the Hawks’ home-court edge and upgraded roster lean in their favour to open the campaign with a win. Either way, we have you covered tonight for the post-game show with film breakdowns, live analysis and call-ins.

  2. Looked really good: I hope they make me eat my words all season. I love being wrong when I'm being pessimistic.

Not going to lie Shannon is a hidden gem of a caller. Just hearing both of you talk ball even if you guys have different perspectives it's just solid intelligent conversation: I hope this guy keeps calling in

Personally I'm staying on the gradey bandwagon. There was a stretch last year where he was on fire and if I remember correctly he got injured and it killed some of his momentum. I don't think he'll ever be a good enough defender to be a starter, but if used right I still think he is an asset for a championship team. His cutting and attacking the rim is getting better, he has above average basketball iq , his decision making isn't a liability. He doesn't have those Gary Trent. Jr moments where he donates a 4 minute stretch of the game to himself and hi jacks the offence. He's a decent enough rebounder at the 2 and 3 spot, and if he becomes consistent with his 3 ball he becomes your most dangerous shooter from long range. I agree he will be expensive but it's for good reason, lights out shooters aren't easy to find and he has potential to be that guy who could come off the bench at any moment and put up 20 to 30 points before you even blink.

Obviously Norm was a better defender than gradey, but part of the reason norm was so important was because at any given moment he could have one of those games where he comes off the bench, catches fire and cuts into a lead, or turns your 10 point lead into a 25 point lead when your starters are ready to get back in.

With smart situational coaching, andutilizing Gradey in favourable matchups and good bench management that's an offensive weapon in your back pocket . Lou Williams was never a good defender and I don't think Gradey needs to be either if used correctly .

Plus the kid has a unique personality and I put an insane amount of value in locker room chemistry. I think he's more important to this teams future than alot of players in the roster even if he'll never be a starter or a good defender. Sure; he's not exactly the shooter he was made out to be (yet) but that jumper/shooting form is wet and if he can find consistency I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the 3 point comp on all star weekend multiple times in the next decade:

  3. I just don’t think this offense could find so much success in any game let alone a season opener, unless it’s a serious indicator of how good this team will likely be. A fluke game scoring 138 points on 36 assists with only 6 threes? gonna be a helluva season man

  4. Scottie's movement looked a step slow on the defensive end. He looked like a man who is struggling with some type of ache/injury of some sort.
