i’m interested in our rookies this year, especially Peter. obviously just the preseason but his awareness as a player and his skill set show great potential to fit in on this team. also i’m interested in Kam Jones minutes when he returns due to the guard shortage because he’ll have a lot of opportunity
Why wait all offseason to sign a PG and then end up with Cam Payne? Even if you're only looking for a 3rd, possible 2nd backup guard at time's..?? I don't understand the approach to let ever single guy sign someplace else. Not that I can say for sure they aren't offering some guy's contract… But it's pretty hard to believe they're offering contracts to guy's who'd be happy to play anywhere. There are many player's I'd taken. Even though I believe we should be looking to play our young PG's. They should have gotten a much better backup early, or picked up another draft pick for a player. Then there's the C issue's. I'm seeing I-Jax needing a lot of time to get back. Because he relied on his athleticism and idk if we can survive two C's coming off achilles tears. I'm rooting for both of them.. and hope at least one can show some skill that we can keep around.. But I still wish we'd drafted a C.. or picked up one in a trade. I-Jax has to get back to his previous play and without fouling. Idk how, or if he can fully reclaim that.. Pacers will need to evaluate quickly to make the best decisions for the future of this team. I know I want to make it back to the Finals asap once Haliburton returns. I believe we will still be close to 40 wins.. But I am still gonna pray for AJ Dybansta. 🙏 lol
Do you think we'll go into the season with 4 centers (5 if Obi is a center at times)?
I think people are not digging the Cam Payne experience because we have so many younger players that could fill in. Everybody loves Q, except for Rick it seems. Ray J is an okay option to fill in the gaps, Kam will be playing at some point. Why do we need to bring in a veteran placeholder? Let’s just run with what we got and if we need to make a move midseason, we can. And to have him come in after two days as the starter was an odd decision in my opinion.
I trust management, I dont think they know what style of player they need .
I hope we see Payne and Q together in backcourt in one of the Spurs games. I think that would be a very Pacersy duo.
Taelon looks great. Huff needs more time in the system. I didn't like can Payne when he played against us. But I hope he fits well with our system
Would you cut a center to open a roster spot for Q or do you think 45 active days as a two-way are enough for Q? RayJ gets 45 days either way.
Being poorly conditioned will contribute to poor shot making as well! He better get into shape quickly!
He's just more of an insurance policy in anything else I don't see him taking up any major minutes but really just to give the veteran presence for the younger guys
I think it's understandable that fans aren't sold on Cam Payne. We saw him fold in the playoffs on two different teams. He'll have to earn his respect. I thought it was odd that Rick said initially that he kept himself in shape, then contradicted himself and said he's not in shape.
Payne looked a lot more comfortable than Wright. He looks like he fits the offense didn't stall. He does like to play fast. Every player including Pascal comments that the Pacers pace takes some adjustment in terms of conditioning. I think a strong possibility he looks really good as TJ's backup.
i was at the game and i just didn’t like cam payne’s energy. i understand he’s in a roster battle but i watched him on the bench and he didn’t clap for any of rayj’s baskets. his 1a is getting an spot in the league but it doesn’t feel like team success is a 1b for him. total judgement call based on rooting against him on other teams from years but still. also you are more than welcome on the m’s bandwagon 🔱
