Blazers (Not Spurs) Are This Year’s BREAKTHROUGH!

Blazers (Not Spurs) Are This Year’s BREAKTHROUGH!

Everyone’s penciling in San Antonio as the “30-something wins to playoff mix” riser. KOC & Chris Vernon think otherwise.

The duo makes the case for the Portland Trail Blazers: second-half defense carrying over, happier/healthier core (Kamara & Sharpe locked in, Scoot on the way back) AND a stabilizing vet guard.

Then they dig into the Spurs: elite ceiling with Wemby, but hugely Wemby-dependent. Plus we take a look into the Phoenix Suns fallout and why Memphis owning that Suns pick could get wild!

Let us know in the comments: Which team actually takes the leap — Blazers or Spurs, and why?

  1. KOC has spent the entire offseason shitting on the Spurs so I can only imagine the chubby he got with this insane take

  2. Definitely a bold take….I agree they will overachieve and not a be a fun team to play against. But playoffs is a bit much. They still have a lot of development that needs to happen but they definitely are trending upwards!

  3. Dude on the right is acting like Portland has all this proven young talent that is miles ahead of the Spurs. Obviously Wemby is the franchise cornerstone and you can’t win without him, but what team is able to win anything without their best player? Also, taking out Wemby, Fox is the best player that either roster has that the guy on the right just completely seemed to ignore. The Spurs also just added the second pick in the draft with potential to be an all nba player at some point and have the reigning rookie of the year going into his second season. Luke Kornet was one of the most underrated signings of free agency as he is a reliable center in this league that contributed to a championship in Boston. I believe he is more proven than Portland’s centers of Clingan and Yang (Rob Williams is always hurt). And then you have important role players like Vassell, Sochan, Barnes, Champagnie, and Keldon. So, that guy is just wrong. The Spurs don’t only have a higher ceiling this year, they have a higher ceiling for the next 10+ years.

  4. Im a huge Spurs fan. However, the Blazers are a big team and have found themselves deep at every position. They've quietly built a REALLY good team and they will be a pain for any team on any given night. I still think my Spurs are the team tk breakout but Por has as good a chance as anyone for non playoff teams.

  5. Ive been saying the same thing. Spurs without wemby last year were the worst team in the league. Their biggest addition was a rookie. And im high asf on Dylan Harper, but if Wemby gets hurt their season is done

  6. Both these guys dislike the Spurs cause they cheer for shitty teams and are jealous and its very clear cause their takes are screaming "please not another spurs 20 year run"

  7. Blazers are a darkhorse team this year. I think they can be a a top 10 defense and make a push for the play in
