It's naive to think this is a blueprint for other teams to circumvent the cap. Rather what you have here is an example of how other teams have been circumventing the cap. Problem is the clippers did it so brazenly and egregiously that any and all plausible liability has been lost in the situation. It wasn't meant to come out It, it was almost bare minimum levels of effort, if you look at it splitting his 1 aspiration deal into several team partner/owner affiliated company/deals would have given the clippers the plausible deniability they are pretending to have.

Even of Balmer was not knowingly skirting the rules, he was reckless and needs to pay the consequences. This is terrible for the game if these types of infractions are allowed to happen. They had best make an example of it.

Adam Silver is getting paid big money to protect the Clippers, mainly Ballmer. Ballmer is the richest owner of the NBA…Silver isn’t going to punish him because he needs him attached to the league. Silver also works for the Owners, not the players. His last comments on this topic suggests that he has no plans to punish them. This will open Pandora’s box if he opts not to punish the Clippers. And a sap on the Wrist will be even worse.
