BREAKING: Knicks sign Mohamed Diawara to 14th roster spot/rookie minimum

Earlier today, the Knicks made their 14th spot official by signing the 51st pick in the 2025 NBA Draft – Mohamed Diawara to a rookie minimum.

Here’s @TheCohencidence with his thoughts on the current state of the Knicks 15-man roster & how difficult it will be going forward to make moves ⬇️⬇️⬇️

  1. i was hoping for some clarity as to why the knicks signed him to this specific deal but i now am more confused than before i watched this video

  2. Bro I love the time and effort you put into balancing our books New York needs to give you a salary job like yesterday

  3. If another team could've signed him in the interim 14 days had they waited doesn't that imply the Knicks absolutely needed to sign him to avoid that unlikely possibility? If he was signed by another team the Knicks would have had no way of staying under the 2nd apron which is required. What am I missing?

  4. This Diawara situation could potentially blow up in Leon's face. This is because Diawara will be a Restricted Free Agent next summer. Next summer the Knicks will likely still be pussy footing around the second apron and afraid to go over it because James Dolan is NBA poor. The salaries they already have guaranteed along with resigning Mitchell Robinson will result in being over the second apron no matter what. If the Knicks try some cap gymnastics to try to stay just below, then some other team could easily offer Diawara more than the Knicks will be comfortable paying him. Say some team offers him 15 million for 3 years. Knicks might not be able to match without going over the second apron.
