Raptors in trouble, DESTROYED on the road in Dallas | Post Game Live Analysis + Film Breakdown

The Toronto Raptors head to Dallas tonight looking to rebound from an inconsistent start and face a Mavericks team equally hungry for stability. Toronto’s starters have been a sore spot early, posting a –22 net rating across more than 40 minutes together — a glaring sign that chemistry remains a work in progress despite Brandon Ingram and Scottie Barnes leading the way. Head coach Darko Rajaković hopes the long-awaited season debut of Collin Murray Boyles, returning from an injury, can inject some much-needed pace, defense and creativity into a group that’s struggled to generate easy offense–especially with his screen-setting.

The Mavericks, meanwhile, enter at 0–2, one of the few winless teams left in the league, and still shorthanded with Kyrie Irving sidelined after his ACL surgery. That absence has thrust rookie Cooper Flagg into extended point guard duties — a role that’s exposed his inexperience against NBA pressure defenses. Even with Anthony Davis anchoring Dallas on both ends, the team has struggled to find offensive flow and late-game composure. With both clubs trying to shake off early-season frustrations, tonight’s matchup offers a crucial tone-setting opportunity — one that could reveal whether the Raptors are closer to solving their lineup puzzle or if Dallas finally finds its first rhythm of the year.

  1. It's too early, but Jak is making me nervous. And I think the Raptors would be wise to trade RJ. He's good, but we need to get something for him

  2. We were with them till about middle of the 3rd when it all broke down. Too many lapses on defense. We blocked only 1 shot all game and it was Mogbo at the end. They also had more steals and rebounds than us. DLo did a better job running the point that Quickley and he's there 2nd unit PG. Mamu is better than Jak. Im at the point of benching Jak and starting Mamu at the 5. Its frustrating cos RJ, Scottie and BI all had a relatively good game but Jak and Quick were a no show.

  3. Im going to give it 15 games since these guys haven't played much but there's few things thats glaring.

First of all, I dont believe IQ is 2/18 bad, and a lot of this could be fixed with less dribbling, playing more off Scottie & BI. However, the roles seem to be reversed for him. It should be Scottie & BI setting up IQ not him setting them up. To many times, I've seen a set defense and IQ making the wrong play like forcing a drive, taking an early shot, or not passing the ball. These decisions become much easier once you let your stars break down the defense and you make use of that opportunity when you get the ball. IQ at the point guard position right now looks like how Houston tried Reed at PG against OKC. Udoka was screaming at him to slow it down, forced drives, and was not passing to Kd when he asked for it

As for Scotties game, im not worried about it at all, but the complaining to the referees worries me a bit. Quite a few times, I've seen 4 on 5 plays since he decided to talk to the referee. But it became glaring after that back door cut. I dont know if im tripping, but he never really complained as much his rookie year, which makes me believe Fred and Pascals leadership could have rubbed quite a bit on him. Then there's quite a few times he's thrown his hands up at his teammates and the coach, one being that Darko timeout. Yes, maybe/they did make a costly mistake, but you need to communicate that better. This is also why I don't think we can tank at all this season causs someone like Scottie can only wait for so long.

I seriously didn't want to complain about Jakob this season cause he seems to be a nice guy, but he seriously seems to be a zero level scorer man. If you're not an elite rim protector, you need to be at least a threat on offense with at least 1 skill. Like dont get me wrong, I love the way he opens up the team and how he positions himself, but that won't really work if you can't show you're a threat yourself.

  4. What does this front office not understand. You need to surround Scottie with 3 and D wings and a rim protecting big.

  5. I saw one great game today…but it wasn't the Raptors'. Rob is going to have so much fun covering the Spurs and Wemby's highlights. (The announcers said he had 18 blocks in his first 3 games?!!!) He's pretty much unstoppable, smart, and they surrounded him with shooters. The Spurs should be pretty good this year if Wemby doesn't get injured. They are playing a fast fun to watch passing game that I thought we were going to implement this season under Darko. Go Raptors?…

  6. About the only thing I've ever heard Alvin Williams say that was quote worthy. "Milk and cookies are for rookies…Coffee and donuts are for grown ups." 😄 I'm not even sure what exactly it means…(something about maturity?), but it sure sounded neat.

  7. The good is that We seem to have found a gem in mamu.

The bad is that we were supposed to rebuild like the Spurs have and we haven't and so it has cost us year after year.

Also bad was trading for Jak and then resigning him to this contract. We could have basically had Steph Castle and Ace Bailey on this team right now had we not traded for Jak and tanked properly last season. Steph Castle could have run point for us and our pg problems would be solved. And best of all, he can defend!

  8. A lot of ppl saying trade RJ but the break in the defense is coming from IQ. There should be no reason why dlo should be breaking down IQ like that and worst of all he can’t hit a 3pt to save his life. Even Scottie is not 2/18 from 3 and his considered one of the worst shooters on the team.
