Alperen Sengun just dropped 39 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists against the Oklahoma City Thunder — but the real story is how he did it. After years of questions about his outside shot, Sengun suddenly looks confident from three, hitting 5-of-8 and showing the one skill that could unlock his superstar ceiling. In this video, I break down how his off-season with Turkiye in the EuroBasket 2025 transformed his game and why his shooting changes everything for both Sengun & the Houston Rockets.

Did we just witness the start of Sengun’s breakout into a superstar season?
It's nice to see someone who understands basketball.
25/11/8
choose your poison.
He looked good. To bad the lost Fred VanVleet.
He's moves are fluid like he was foot shorter. And he not only tall but BIG… Damn
Playing Sengun at PF with Adams at centre has opened up Alp’s offensive game. Adams screen setting and rebound gravity gives Alp so much space, and he doesn’t have to worry about doing it he dirty work because Adams handles it.
What's Alex Caruso even doing there?
Alperen Sengun look like he work with Dirk Nowitzki in the off season.
I wish people can make a video about Sengun without mentioning Joker. It seemed like you were gonna be the first and I was about to congratulate you but then you gave into the seemingly insurmountable desire that the media has to give all the credit for the good things that Sengun to Joker. So really it just becomes a Joker video in disguise "Is Sengun the next Joker" instead of "Is Sengun becoming a Superstar in his own right". Maybe one day we'll ge tone of those.
Thank you for your excellent comments 🙏
I hope sengun doesn't settle with the 3 he needs to start in the post and run the offense
❤
Admittedly, Ataman is teaching Idoka how to use Şengün effectively…
"Why does Sengun look older now than on his rookie season?"
– Pat Beverley, showin he doesn't understand how time works
Odlična analiza.
That is true, but he has to feel the shots and shoot. He scored 5 out of 8 in OKC game , so he has to feel it and shoot , not everyday.
Great analysis bro, many thanks from Istanbul 👍
Sengun is a basketball savant.
He's used to doing bully ball on offense vs. two defenders, now he got help from perimeter, but you can't leave him in the paint with just one, he'll bully ball whoever is that, he bullied Chet like Chet isn't Chet.
Daddy Şengün
Brother, I’ve honestly never seen anyone analyze Alperen Şengün this well. The way you describe his growth and hunger every year is spot on. He just keeps getting better and better.
The difference between him and Jokić is that Jokić has a God-given talent and he works hard, but his priorities are different. Maybe he could go even further or chase a championship ring on another team, but something keeps him locked where he is.
Alperen, though, truly lives for basketball. He hates losing, and he’s constantly improving. Three years ago, he wasn’t even half the player he is now. Last season, he couldn’t really shoot threes — this year he’s around 30%. Next year it might be 40%, maybe even 45%. That’s the kind of player he is: hungry, passionate, and obsessed with getting better.
I’ve also been following your takes since last year’s EuroLeague Final Four prediction, and I really respect how unbiased and professional you are — you genuinely value Turkish basketball.
Sending love from America 🇺🇸 — from a Turkish brother living here. ❤️
The whole BasketNews team is awesome. I truly enjoy watching you guys. I didn’t follow EuroLeague or NBA this closely before, but your channel got me hooked.
Found you by chance, and I’m glad I did. Keep up the amazing work! 🙌
Daddy sengun
i m turkish and proud to see the praises that sengun is getting. but it is obvious that he is not gonna shoot 60 percent from 3s all season. if he can shoot 35 40 percent it would be great but lets wait and see a lil bit
🤘🏻
Evolution is happening 👍
Thank you for your sensitivity in pronouncing it as "Türkiye", not Turkey, my friend.
damn bro fr alpi so good rn watching him he’s unreal
Let’s hope so
Great analysis! Thank you 🙏
Using Nordvpn os like surfing the internet without protection; dont take sponsers you have no clue about their business or connections
Respect from Türkiye brother! I love your BasketNews channel. Very good content all the time with great commentators. I was in Lithuania for a very short time and loved the country. Hope to see you there again and meet you 🙂
He's no longer the baby Joker, he's a more athletic version of him who can do everything Joker does.
When I saw that Jokic's unbelievable pass at 8:17 I hoped to see Sengun's unbelievable pass against Poland in Eurobasket next. They are very similar
“That kind of growth only happens in competition, not in empty workouts” summarizes the whole thing up
Jokic, Luka, SGA, Giannis, Wemby and now Sengun? From top3 we went to top6 players not from USA…
Absolutely, this monster is coming to this season in beast mode! We'll watch cinema whole season. 🔥🔥
We pray fror him and his team success. He is indeed a clever and well mannered raised child. Kudos to his family.
good
For the people who didn't know, his backnumber 28 is the code in Türkiye where he comes from (Giresun). The license plate numbers are all 28 there. We come from the same city and yes we are very proud of him keep it up brother!
You do know that turkey is not Europe, right ..?
Thats our guy❤🇹🇷
They told him he was weak, he got stronger.
They told him his free throws were bad, he made them better
They told him he is not a shooting threat, he started making threes.
Talent brings you to a point. But his ambition and hard work to improve is the most impressive thing. That is winner mentality. Couple of Turkish generations started to watch NBA closer because of him. So proud of him.
thanks
It would be also kinder if you credit to Ataman bro, but still good report thank you for coverage
