The NBA Has a San Antonio Spurs Problem…

The San Antonio Spurs wasn’t supposed to be this good this fast. The league was supposed to have a couple of years before the Victor Wembanyama Spurs really started to take over. But I think we’ve been gravely mistaken, because the San Antonio Spurs are sitting at 3 to 0 for the first time since 2019, and they haven’t just looked good, they’re announcing their arrival. This Spurs team lead by Victor Wembanyama team looks ready for real, competitive basketball right now. A 33 point statement win on opening night against Dallas, a gritty overtime win in New Orleans and a chaotic home opener against Brooklyn where they found a way to close with poise down the stretch. But the thing that really stands out isn’t just the wins. It’s that it already feels like they have an identity, and it’s built around their defense.

  1. Remember Foxx is still hurt. Harper out there looking like prime Tony Parker, but bigger, at this point as a rookie, he looks to be a better shooter, but like TP a wizard in the paint.. I just saw a patented TP move from Harper in that Brooklyn game. Go Spurs!!

  2. Giannis
    Joker
Wemby – is by virtue of age alone, the best player in the league. Because those other two ahead of him weren't this in yr 3. So it stands to reason hes still improving. And will this season. If he's this player the rest of the season they could easily make a deep run. He's this guy 67 games this yr hed be 30 15 and 5 with 4 assists 2 steals??? 😮 He's the mf best.

  3. How much do you wanna bet before I make it to the end of this video Wemby will have fallen at least once if not twice? Doesn’t matter what he can do like he doesnt gave the right body type for what he tries to do and will end up injured eventually.

  4. Wemby is today what Wilt was sixty years ago…a unique phenom who players do not know what to do with. Wemby needs to stay around 240lbs or he will develop foot-leg problems like other ABNORMALLY tall players in league history. Wemby's career will be lengthened if he isn't banging for 30mpg against heavy big men in the paint.

  5. Prediction: If the Spurs win 55 games it is b/c of Wemby, who will proceed to win DPOY and MVP…and maybe even MIP.

Spurs are returning to their DEFENSIVE roots. NBA needs a new defensive category: "Potential Blocks" b/c Wemby has stated "Defense is non-negotiable".

  6. Stephon Castle is going to be a stud…and Dylan Harper could be Manu Ginobili 2.0 and win Sixth Man of the Year punishing the b/u PG of opponents. And if stoic Mitch Johnson turns into Pop, then over the next 15 years the Spurs are going to more titles, many more than the five titles Pop did from '99-2014. Given 10 seasons Wemby will be the GOAT.

  7. Good analysis. Hope the Spurs win it all and he stays healthy. Never seen AD , Lively, Zion, etc treated like they aren’t even there, the comeback against Brooklyn’s comeback was epic. Wemby has the eye of the Tiger. Imagine if he played for Steve Kerr, Kerr would bench him and Dylan Harper for Draymond and Podz. Lol.

  8. Im waiting to see them against a real team, yesterday they looked terrible at time (you know that 3rd quarter) and Brooklyn isnt really a top team. So yeah. Wemby in the first places for MVP ? Yes, Spurs winning the title ? Seems a bit short atm for a title imo. But they are definitely ahead of schedule, especially since Fox is missing. On the other hand, Fox missing is a blessing for Harper and he seems to use it well.

But I still think it's a bit early to talk title, I want to see them play a bit more before. But they are definitely better than I thought they would be.

  9. Wemby's nine 3s/game last season were by design. In Wemby's rookie season, when Popovich moved him from the PF to the 5 spot, Pop made it clear that Wemby was a perimeter player. So now he is an outside-in player, not inside-out. That is, he sets up defenders from the perimeter then takes them to the paint. WeMVP!!!

  10. I would very much like Harper to win ROTY he’s an astounding player that is effective on a winning team. But I’m sure he won’t be getting as much PT as Edgcomb and Flagg. Still think he’s possible the best player from the draft!

  11. Wemby is so good that if the Spurs are a 6th seed, then they are in the WC finals if OKC is the 1 seed. Pray to Christ the King that He gives Wemby 15+ healthy seasons although it will only take 10 to show he is the GOAT.

  12. What do channels do this..the psychological angles people are taking to get clicks and views are just strange. The spurs have been pretty bad for a while and this is his 3rd season as a big number 1 draft pick..this is how it's supposed to go in many cases. Stop overreacting on everything these days..We live in such an overreacting society where everything's about clicks and hot takes

  13. Tbf they have a really easy schedule through Oktober and November, lets talk again in march😅

    For now it looks promising😊

  14. maan Wemby gotta look out for that ankle, in the Mavs game I saw at least 3 or 4 times he rolled his right ankle it's scary

  15. Damn, I really hope we can keep Harper. Wemby and Castle are untouchables but with Fox coming back, I know Harper’s mins may be less. Harper has Tony Parker levels of penetration. Castles defense is reminiscent of Kawhi/Bowen. KJ and Vassel also compliment the team perfectly

  16. One of the best rookie classes we've seen in a long time! Looking forward to seeing more from Coop, Valdez and Dylan

  17. We’ve been pretty sloppy the past 2 games. Expected tho bec we have a lot of young players in the team. Defense is good. Offense just has to be tighter. Also, they really need to practice free throw shooting. This has been a problem since years ago. Some of these games wouldn’t have been that close if only they made their free throws. Hopefully they go 6-0 until Fox returns.

  18. Too early to say so. 😂😂😂 Then after few months, heqdline would be "Spurs got a big problem". Idiots
