Remember when they called him a bust after 1 summer league game? 😂
Sean Elliot coined "dad block".
1. Tatum
2. Lillard
3. Lavine
4. Wemby
5. Morant
I have wemby at #4
He came in stronger and pumped up for opening night at home. Let him play 65 games this year where he's 80% as effective with his effort and we'll see how much momentum they have going into April. The numbers raised thee eyebrow. But these guys are right, it's the way he looked while doing it. Props to the Dream and K.G. lighting some fire in him.
We watching the GOAT 🐐
Well frankly nothing wemby does should be surprisimg as it is expected from him
I would say Luka so far but it’s close
Spurs need 50 wins for Wemby to win MVP
watched Wemby against the Mavs and thought he was the runaway MVP. Watched their next game against the Pelicans, and thought he was merely one of the 5 best players in the league. I then watched Luka dismantle a very good Timberwolves team without breaking much of a sweat, putting up 49 points, and I realized it's best to see how things play out during the regular season before making predictions after game 2.
The Wemby evolution is so amazing especially because of 3s lol you talked about. Avg 9 and game last season, not even trying to go that way this season. KG and Dream got to his head and his ability to learn and soak like a sponge, his competitive edge and drive, makes him the most feared in the league right now!
it's a little early for MVP talk two games into the season, n'est ce pas?
People will come to realise this but Wemby is the bona-fide second coming of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with the skill set of the modern age.
The superstar cycle has returned to its starting point; the genuinely too long, genuinely too skilled and genuinely too intelligent savant that the variables cannot stop. He is 2-2. There’s him and KAJ. And that’s it. No player, even the GOATS in the conversation, have had that proposition.
We’ve had big-bodied strong men beat up the long men. We’ve had skilled guards take the ball away from the bigs and make them redundant. We’ve had bigger forwards take over (‘point forwards’) to reduce the impact of the skilled guards. We’ve had shooters take the ball away from the forwards and run them off their feet.
Now we have the complete package. We have Wemby who is intelligent enough to take his time, let his body and skills develop with exposure and now knows he’s ready to play the game the right way.
He didn’t have a Robinson to protect him as he entered, but now has the capacity to be the greatest complete player we have ever seen.
these so called analysts thought they’re a better basketball mind than the spurs org. Wemby year 1 and 2 cant possibly go down the post and bang with legit centers on a daily basis because he is frail and thin, bulking up and gaining strength needs time so instead of risking injury forcing him to play like a big they develop his outside game to make him more of a complete player not just an inside player. Them not getting that simple logic is absurd and tbh so stupid considering they are sports analysts
Overreaction – let's just figure out how to make it through one season first😮😂. Anyone can have a few good games. Heck Aaron Gordon just put up 50 on like 10 for 11 from three 🤫
There is a still small window (year or two) of a chance for American MVP that everyone forgets about and his name is Steph.
The 3s last season was for shooting development , ppl not getting the vision
Election for MVP hasn't been started but we already know the winner.
Its gong to be the wemby and lakers podcast now
JUSTIFIED AMAZEMENT ! DEFINITELY…….I could write a WHOLE BOOK of REASONS of why that is justified amazement !!
I believe that Wemby is 7’7” barefoot.
I don’t know why everyone is making it sound like he’s made some big improvement or correction with his shot selection from year two – that was so clearly his development plan to take a high percentage of perimeter shots to get in game reps in a no-consequence year two.
There’s 2 positions in basketball that I admire the most, the pg and center positions. These 2 next to SG is the most dominant, wemby is both. He got HANDLES of a guard and physicality of shaq, zo and Hakeem. But what ever he learned this summer is paying OFF, especially what Hakeem taught him. Also Duncan influence
…and, HIS shooting stroke is SWEET! 😮
Wemby MVP top contender
How do we mute bontemps?
Wemby is today, where he always wanted to be. He's in the NBA, just like he was at home as a kid, at the right place.
You can hear him during an interview, saying, when he was a kid, that he chose the number 1 on his jersey, because he wanted to be the number 1 at all positions in the team…
