The Raptors step onto the floor at Scotiabank Arena tonight with their home opener set against the Bucks. Toronto will lean into its revamped look — built around the versatile play of Scottie Barnes and the scoring punch of Brandon Ingram — hoping to generate early momentum in the Eastern Conference. With the Bucks now featuring Myles Turner at the center spot, Toronto’s offense will need to keep the ball moving and force Milwaukee’s big man to make decisions while exploiting the floor spacing. Expect Barnes to initiate at the top of the key, Ingram to attack mismatches, and the Raptors’ bench to look for opportunities to keep the pace high.

On the other side, Milwaukee aims to make an early statement with the Turner-anchored frontcourt providing a new dimension behind Giannis Antetokounmpo’s dominance. The Bucks’ new configuration should allow Giannis more freedom to roam, while Turner stretches the defense and protects the rim. Toronto’s defensive length — led by Barnes, Ingram and company — will be tested by Milwaukee’s pick-and-rolls and transition game. With a fired-up home crowd and debuting partnerships for the Raptors, tonight offers a strong early benchmark for how Toronto measures up against one of the East’s more established contenders.

Collin Murray-Boyles is questionable to make his season debut.

  1. At 45:01, I think this is the issue with a shorter PG. If you pause it at 45:00, Quickley saw Ingram run to the key and saw Ingram's man get screened by Jak. There are two mistakes here: #1: Ingram doesn't recognise he lost his defender, so he stops running. The key was wide open, and so if he kept running, he would have drawn Giannis or Gary, leaving a corner 3 pass open, or Ingram would have had the easiest wide open layup/dunk from Quick's pass. Mistake #2: At 45:00 Ingram becomes obscured by 4 players. At this point, Quickley reasonably assumes Ingram is running to the basket after losing his man. By very early 45:01 he looks still mostly obscured, but by like 45:01.25 there starts to be a sight path to see Ingram has slowed and is close to Jak. The ball leaves Quick's hand at like 45:01.9 as it's in the air by 45:02. So it's a split second decision, but it is one that either needs to be done, or one that Scottie wouldn't have made with his height and sight.

I hope that gives a bit of a different perspective on what I think is Quickley's pass. Had Ingram run, it would have been a great pass. Had Quickley seen him slow down, it wouldn't have been a lost play.

  2. 7 min mark only Raps analysis to look at game and season strategy and voice it. Our coaching/players have not looked at this since Kyle Lowry’s intelligence left.

  3. The team just doesnt fit well and the contracts some of these guys signed makes them untradable(IQ, Poeltl and RJ) i dont think many teams will try to tank after last year(wizards and jazz getting pushed out of top 4) we might get a better pick this year actually trying to win 😂. We know the spacing sucks but even the defending can be shocking at times. I truly believe we might be one of the worst team's in the league based off of overall fit which will be a hard pill for some of our fans to swallow.

  4. My hope is that we win enough games before the trade deadline and RJ plays well enough so we can get a good return. We know he can put up points, so hopefully there's some market for him. We desperately need 3 and D SG. And JW is not ready for that role.
Also Shead, I'm loving his toughness, sure he makes mistakes, but he is poor mans Lowry.

  5. Well I'm not surprised, difference between professionilism and immaturity. Maybe it wasn't the coaches fault, right, yeah ok. I'm not fan of this coach or the mix of these players. I'll I know is if there is accountability they don't lose that game. It's like every year same garbage.

  6. IQ literally ice Bi in the 4th in clutch time and refuse to get him the ball. IQ has to get traded ASAP

  7. This was a bellwether game for sure. (Hence why i found myself defending checking in on it during the amazing Jays WS game, and rewatching later ..)

Home opener, beatable opponent, oof.. and after the optimism of last game

Hopefully over-reacting again, but the Raptors have some tough tough games ahead in Texas, which would have been fine to drop if you won this one.

Does this team have enough defensive tenacity, depth, talent, and great team play commitment to make up for the usual suspects of lack of size or shooting (unless the latter turns around)?

It’s a good year to tank, but I don’t think this is the same team next year in a number of key ways if it’s another tanking year..

  8. Atrocious game. BI came in like he had a problem he wasn’t the highest scoring starter in the opening game. Got horrible pascal iso ball flash backs.

The other starting 4 don’t respect Scottie on offence, even when he’s at his spots. They aren’t looking for him.

Defence was a tragedy. Hope this isn’t indicative of what’s really happening in the locker room or the players hidden intentions, because it’s not a good look. All the selfless play talk track by these guys went out the window last night. Horrid.

  9. Jack Armstrong makes these games borderline unwatchable. I don’t entirely blame the casual fans on the Scottie hate, because they’re being programmed by this guys hate every home game. He needs to go smh.

  10. I forgot how good Giannis was, honestly I ve lost faith in peotle ,we need deterrent at the rim ,he was getting blown by everytime

  11. I was hoping for this one cause now i feel like its possible to start 1-3 instead of 2-2 we will have real problems with the texas 2 sum

  12. Honest criticism. Way to ranty. Way too angry. Lately I’m watching a lot of football analysts and they’re way less pissed off. I couldn’t finish this vlog and I’m someone that always tunes in. Let’s hope next games a better one.

  13. How many times did we send the double only to get cooked on the first pass out of it? That, and all the mistakes and missed free throws down the stretch made this game a really difficult watch.

  14. Not directed to anyone, but I'm so tired of these arm chair gms, who only watch NBA (and not very long judging by the comments) and they base their assumptions based on on highlights and box scores. "RJ is awesome because he scored 22 points.."
They don't see the defensive lapses, they don't see that player x gets gaurded by weak defenders, they don't see killed possessions or any of that shit. For all they care Spain pick and roll and zone defense is a bubble gum.
Yet they watch highlights and box scores and have the audacity to argue with people who actually understand the game

  15. That loss hurt my soul but I feel like there's easy stuff to fix for them in thr film room, especially on defense

  16. Am a bit worried, this team has to work as if they don’t the guys can’t be traded without attaching picks. If Quickley doesn’t work, no one will trade for him with that contract.

  17. The Friday EDT Bucks-Raptors game was for the Raptors a mixed bag. Sure the Raptors, for at least a second straight non-preseason game, put up at least 100 points but defense, very much unlike against the Hawks, wasn’t great. That the Bucks-Raptors game was close, decided by under 10 points, is encouraging because at least the Raptors fought until the end and executed on enough of those shots to make that game close. I typically consider a loss an ugly one if the Raptors lose by at least 15 points.

  18. Im not saying CMB would of shut down Giannis but him in the lineup would of helped us significantly. CMB would of at least gave him a much more physical look that nobody not even Scottie sorry Rob can apply on players

  19. Scottie guarding Giannis an entire game is ridiculous and obviously affects his offense. I’d rather see Scottie being used on another team than like this. We didn’t even ask kawhi to guard Giannis by himself we had two 7 footers.

  20. One of the biggest reasons the Raptors Lost to the Bucks? Darko’s over-celebration.
When the coach gets too hyped too early, the team loses focus — or worse, starts forcing plays to match his energy. Save the celebrations for when it really matters — the championship.
I thought Darko had learned that by now… but in 2024, he celebrated the first win like it was a title, and the Raptors followed up with an 11-game losing streak (with just one win in between ).
If Darko wants his team to stay composed and keep its identity, he’s got to lead by example.
Stay cool until the finish line, coach. 🏀🔥

  21. Here’s my takeaway. The game is tied with 3:58 seconds remaining. Whatever has passed has passed. How do you close it out? It’s either exhaustion, being out coached or being outplayed. In Professional Team Sports, it always comes down to how to cross the finish line first. This loss falls on Darco. I’m not interested in a close game of examining all the missed plays to this point. I’m more interested in how to win it when you’re tied with 3 minutes left.

  22. I look forward to seeing the lineup data analysis on the Sunday show. It was a close game, which I usually enjoy. We just ran out of steam. Let's go Raptors!!!

  23. i hate cole anthony too and pissed off that he destroyed this team. makes this loss even worse.

  24. They played this game like they didn't practice together or something. They phoned it in completely. 😂
