He's both a really great player, and a little wiener. If he just focused on getting buckets, and fought through fouls to score; I think people would have a different opinion. But the fact that he'll throw himself on the ground, and just toss the ball in the general direction of the hoop; with no intention of actually scoring. Or go out of his way to create contact himself, when he has a clear path to the hoop; is what gives him the negative reputation.

SGA's game is in direct defiance of the current era of "NBA analytics" that has teams jacking up 40-50 threes per game. I find it very telling that a shooting guard that uses midrange jumpers as his primary weapon much like Jordan and Kobe (who have 11 championships between them) just won a championship. I watched all of Jordan and Kobe's careers and he is doing things that those guys did. He is ridiculously good and is the best closer in the game just like those two guys.
