Nikola Jokić led the charge with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists on 10-of-15 shooting, recording his fourth consecutive triple-double to start the season. He joins Russell Westbrook (2020–21) and Oscar Robertson (1961–62) as the only players in NBA history to open a season with four straight triple-doubles. Jokić now has 168 career triple-doubles, ranking third all-time behind Westbrook (203) and Robertson (181). Remarkably, this was his 17th career triple-double while playing fewer than 30 minutes, passing Westbrook for the most such games in NBA history.
Jamal Murray added 17 points, 6 assists, and 3 made threes, while Christian Braun contributed across the board with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Notably, since the start of the 2024–25 season, there have been 27 games where a team recorded 40 or more assists. The Nuggets account for 7 of those games—more than any other team, with no other franchise having more than 4 in that span.
For the Pelicans, Jeremiah Fears was a bright spot with 21 points, 6 assists, and 2 steals on 10-of-15 shooting. Zion Williamson was held to 11 points and 2 assists in a quiet outing.
With the win, Denver improves to 3–1 on the season, while New Orleans drops to 0–4.

Finally, Jokic has a true all star level teammate (Aaron Gordon) and very good role players like Cam Johnson and Christian Braun. Murray is still unreliable. One second he plays good and other times he disappears.
