LAKERS at TIMBERWOLVES | GAME OF THE NIGHT | October 29, 2025

Austin Reaves delivered a clutch game-winning jumper from the middle of the paint to lift the Los Angeles Lakers past the Minnesota Timberwolves, 116–115. The Timberwolves had erased a 20-point deficit to take a 115–114 lead with one possession remaining, but Reaves’ heroics sealed the win for L.A.

Reaves finished with 28 points and a career-high-tying 16 assists, continuing his scorching start to the season. Jake LaRavia added 27 points, 8 rebounds, and hit 5-of-6 from three-point range, while Rui Hachimura and Deandre Ayton each chipped in 17 points, with Ayton also grabbing 10 boards.
Minnesota was led by Julius Randle, who poured in 33 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists while shooting 4-of-7 from deep. Jaden McDaniels added 30 points and 7 rebounds in a strong supporting effort.

Reaves now has 171 points through five games, averaging 34.2 PPG. He becomes the first Laker since Kobe Bryant in 2005 to open a season with five straight games of at least 25 points.
He also joins Jerry West as the only players in franchise history to record five consecutive games of 25+ points and 5+ assists to start a season—West accomplished the feat in 1970–71.
Additionally, Reaves joins Magic Johnson (44x), Jerry West (9x), LeBron James (4x), and Nick Van Exel (2x) as the only Lakers with multiple games of 25+ points and 15+ assists.

With the win, the Lakers improve to 3–2, while the Timberwolves fall to 2–3.

  1. As a Dubs fan that has loved HIM from afar for years, “it’s hard not to be romantic about, (Austin Tyler Reaves!).” 💙 💛 ❤️

  2. How many 1st options out there can give you 28 points + 16 assists without half their roster.

  3. Yeah, we all know NBA wouldn’t be calling it the “Game of the Night” if the Wolves managed to pull off the win lol.
    Glaze is wild.

  4. wow this is an awesome video concept. would love if the NBA did more of these kinda of “game of the night” edits where we get a longer highlight reel. real hoop heads appreciate the deeper insight for free.

  5. Bro this lakers team not having Luka or LeBron might be a blessing. Bench dudes actually getting minutes/experience and learning even if they lose. Could end up a blessing in disguise later in the year 🤫
