With all due respect to Penny Hardaway and Zach Randolph…Ja Morant is the most special basketball player (Grizzlies or Tigers)to ever put on a Memphis jersey.
Here’s my ”this is what is actually happening” for people who don’t know Tuomas Iisalo or tend to be prisoners of the moment.
It was always going to be VERY hard to integrate his complex System with how short NBA training camp is compared to Europe and with how little time there is between games, and that was BEFORE the insane amount of injuries that made things like 5 times harder still.
With how incredibly compromised everything has been compared to what it should have been,
it’s a minor miracle that we’re 3 and 2 at this stage, and we are going to get much, much, MUCH better.
Most people don’t appreciate the amount of change that has is and is occurring.
Every player is learning and doing lots of things they’ve never done before. The pace is very high and is going to get higher still. Brains and nervous systems are working overtime to adapt to the changes and everyone is uncomfortable at this stage.
Tuomas asks a LOT from every single player and they are still struggling with all the newness and are far from what they are going to be when things get more integrated.
The potential of this team is limitless with this roster and Tuomas at the helm and there is no other team in the league that is going to improve more during this season.
Not only do we have 5 important players injured but we also have 2 more in development timeout. GG and OMax are in no way forgotten. They are getting honed so they can be unleashed as high energy athletic DISCIPLINED monsters later in the season.
So, not only are the players playing now going to get much more comfortable and fluid with the new System, but we have 7 more players that are going to join in and make this team SPECTACULAR and incredibly deep.
By the time the year says 2026 we are going to be flying, and as Tuomas is a genius with a near infinite amount of tricks and fancy ideas up his sleeve, we are just going to keep getting better and better which should terrify the other teams.
The only thing to keep in mind to avoid becomng prisoners of the moment is that this is still SUPER early in the process and we haven’t seen anything yet!

I’ve been saying on every post bench wells and start coward I like wells but too one dimensional and doesn’t try to create his own shot or don’t have any playmaking CC starting at 3
Oh yeah. Coward definitely should be a starter. He probably should replace either Wells or Pope in the starting lineup. I guess Coward is a lottery pick for reason.

On Jaren, I feel like about 2/3 or the way through last season, teams got serious in the tape room and made adjustments to defending him. Since then they have far more consistently gone for his hands and the strip to disrupt that post drive, and TBH Jaren and the Grizzlies haven’t adjusted to that

Wells been inconsistent since pre season he had 9pts 29 min 1 assist KCP played 19 min 11pts 5ast bench wells indefinitely he’s a good role player nothing more he’s still solid jus not a starter that’s why we not doing what we suppose we need that spark to start Coward been sensational and he got the eye test he can be a mini kawhi wit better handles not saying he’s gonna be kawhi at all be a sample of em

Isalo putting in Cedic Coward was the difference maker in this game. That big rebound by Coward, 3pt, and Ja make that last paint shot sealed the deal. I've seen enough, Coward going to be special!! Coward going to be a Kawaii type player. I can just see it. He made so many big plays down the stretch. I love Coward, cause he just hustles, doesn't feel sorry, or let down after plays. I see the opposite in Ja and JJJ. When Ja gets blocked, he hesitates for like 1 second, slows down, and his man run all the way back. JJJ does the same thing, get frustrated. If you ever watched Jordan or Kobe, they never get discouraged, they always ran back on defense even if they get blocked. Ja just quits after plays, that one thing I hate about Ja.

Vince Williams time is up.. Cedric is definitely taking his spot. Jaren doesn’t look like any thing that justifies his CONTRACT! Jaylen wells still has growing to do offensively. Santi is average he’s nothing special he has good games and bad games I need to see way more from him he’s not good defensively.
Jalen Wells gives us nothing offensively. Can't make an open 3 to save his life. You can't have KCP and Jalen starting. These slow starts are for a reason. Can't have 3 inconsistent scorers in the starting lineup.
When are we gonna see bassey. Why go get him on a 10 day and not use him. Jaren is overrated af. We need a mark williams. Omax needs minutes. Hes a dog. They say we need dogs then dont play them. It pains me to say this but vince and GG gotta go man. Vince aint getting back to where he was and GG still young but doesnt fit our timeline.
We fine when we running but in half court offense way too often people just watching Ja. If everyone moving off ball and understanding spacing then Ja could average 30 and 10 without even trying. You only gotta look at how well hes distributing the ball. Move people. Cut, space, relocate. Thats why he gotta jack up 3s and gets injured. People really set one screen, defense cuts it off then just stop and watch Ja exepecting him to just do it all.
Jaren has to learn how to play like a big. Setting screens, rebounding and protecting the rim is expected scoring is second. I'm fine with Wells this is his 2nd year. KCP has to figure out what he is doing. Teams are shooting above 40% from 3. His perimeter defense has not been good. Coward comimg off the bench we need that boast. Our bench might not matter without CC.
