Cedric Coward Might Be PRETTY GOOD For Memphis

Rookie Cedric Coward is off to an unreal start for the Memphis Grizzlies — and Cyro breaks down why he’s already become Coach Tomáš Iisalo’s secret weapon off the bench. Shooting an absurd 70.4% from the field, 72.7% from deep, and 91.7% from the line, Coward has been the definition of hyper-efficient.

Averaging 19.0 points in just 22.7 minutes, he’s giving Memphis instant offense without needing the ball, spacing the floor for Ja Morant and punishing defenses on cuts and catch-and-shoot looks. Add in 3.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals — and zero turnovers — and it’s easy to see why he leads the team in +/–.

Coward has quickly become the Grizzlies’ spark plug: low usage, high efficiency, and major impact.

  1. I sensed that Cedric Coward has a strong hatred of turnover and missing shots. He is a no-nonsense player who did his job seriously. Plus, he is a very smart player with a mature mind and a sense of responsibility.

  2. His efficiency isn't a fluke. That was the only thing people were talking about as soon as they drafted him. He only takes smart shots and was like 80% before his injury

  3. As a grizzlies fan i can assure you that bane was stucked in his game. He couldnt help enought ja driving the ball up in important matches as a first guard or in strategic plays. He didnt grow according to expectations, thats why a change necessary. Now, about cedric, its hard for me to understand how someone who was playing in d3 and never received a d1 schoolarship in his first year can arrive and make 27 pts to the last nba finalist. Its simply amazing and makes me think a lot about the pseudo scouting job. They do everything but finding real talent. Maybe they just check on the prospects social media

  4. Once Edey and Scotty and Vince and Clark come back the defense will get much better. Right now there are players playing that won’t see the floor. Coward is gonna be a beast.

  5. He's my "Derrick White"" in this draft. I wanted him for the Spurs at 14th but obviously, Grizzlies traded up for him. I thought he's going to fell to the Spurs since he's already 22 years old. Spurs still got a good and promising player (Carter Bryant) on paper but still Cedric Coward is still on my top player at 14th since Spurs already have Dylan Harper.
