TURMOIL: Magic’s DISASTROUS Start Sparks CONCERN | Making the MOST of Desmond Bane

TURMOIL: Magic’s DISASTROUS Start Sparks CONCERN | Making the MOST of Desmond Bane

The Orlando Magic acquired Desmond Bane to help solve their offensive issues. But the last six quarters shows there are still some bad offensive habits to break.

If Orlando wants to make the most of their new player in Desmond Bane, they need to break these habits and start moving the ball more. It comes with experience and trust. And the Magic are lacking both right now, holding them back.

Orlando also needs to reduce their mistakes and turnovers if the team wants to get its offense moving again.

The Magic will have to do all of this on the road as they take on a five-game road trip that might be more difficult than initially believed.

  1. The expectation of the Magic immediately gelling together as a unit, understanding the nuances of a new offense, and winning immediately is LARGLY on the magic media like yourself.

Magic media, traditional and untraditional sources, did their part in justifyingly hyping the team, but also did their part in not properly setting expectations of early season growing pains.

Now you are doubling down because media in general do not admit to mistakes.

  2. not so much of a "disastrous start" as it is almost exactly what fans expected. the media and the bandwagon were pushing the winning narrative for nooo reason, like if learning and experience arent a thing. its 3 games into this thing. the goal was, and still is, seeing the second round at minimum. lets go magic!💙🤍

  3. I'm going to say something wildly unpopular. Franz is not helping us evolve to a new offense. Paolo is not himself yet but you can tell he's at least trying to not hold on to the ball so much and evolve his game to be a facilitator and someone who can recognize where the help defense on him is coming from so he can find the open man. Franz on the other hand, while I love his scoring, is not and has never been a great passer. Franz needs to force himself to learn how to and when to attack the lanes and kick out to open shooters. But I will say it until I'm blue in the face: Coach Mo has been and continues to be an issue. Love the guy but not sure he can coach a contender.

  4. Playing fast is not good. It’s not our game. We cultivated an identity, why would it be good to change it? We’re at 20+ TOPG bc we’re rushing. This was the worst decision they could’ve made.

  5. Paolo is an iso nightmare right now. It starts with him and he hasn’t adjusted his game to promote ball movement yet.

  6. I see some players on the new pace and others trailing. When they go into a half court offense I see a ball handler and everyone else standing around. Both are cases of players not moving well or at all without the ball.

  7. The organization brought in the players they need to compete. It’s time to go get a real coach that knows how to win games. It’s been a glaring issue that nobody wants to talk about bc we all like Mose as a person.

  8. Similar issue with Gary and KCP. Shooting woes, sure, but both were incidental to Paolo and Franz, did not shoot the ball enough.

  9. If you're watching film, our defense is flat pancake cheeks. Fly bys every play. Easy layups. Poor on ball screen and pnr defense switching/hedging. Etc etc etc. Coach Mose is asking too much of a new team. Play with pace and learn new offense and play the same defense.

  10. We all want to go 82-0, but with a new offense and new players, it is no surprise that there are growing pains. It is a good team that is going to win 50+ games.

  11. Trust for the Magic personnel is built on defense and consistency, not on speeding up the offense and constantly changing the lineups – which only appears to erode their confidence and feed their horrid shot making.
