The Raptors haven’t had a lot of trouble putting up triple-digit point totals in regular-season play but defense, over the last two games, hasn’t been great. The Raptors thus deserve the relevant 1–2 record they now have.
Roster construction is just bad. No true PG, lack of shooting, center is too slow footed and not great defensively, guards are mid-bad defensively. Constant breakdowns at the perimeter aren't the end of the world if you have a great defensive center but we don't (he's also playing through injury). The team just doesn't work, feel bad for Darko because he'll probably get blamed and canned but the reality is we just don't have the personnel. At some point Bobby will have to take accountability
Playing an aggressive defense with 1 positive defender in the starting unit is tough. Even if Poeltl was back to his standards, the perimeter defense would still kill this team defensively.
Only reason Wemby won't drop 100pts on the Raptors, is because he won't play much in the 2nd half because the Spurs will be up by 20pts by then.
IQ is a 6 man at best on a serious team

Mr lenard is not above suspicion with 25 million in funds in a secret account. That shot was impossible. Look at that bounce.
In first clip look at RJ Barret and Jamal Shead just gawking as Barnes try to defend Anthony Davis,what are they doing , five man or the NBA version of basketball 🏀 is one continuous movement, if one man has the rock 🪨 and he is pin down, then then other four guys must be doing something to create an opportunity to get to the rim and score😡🤦🏽♂️
Bad defence is the result of too many players who cannot hang one on one with their man. You can have one, two is tough and three is a horror show this goes for pretty much any sport. We have RJ (bad defensively) IQ, out of position (avg. to poor) Jak (avg.) BI (poor – avg.) GD (poor). If you remove one of RJ or IQ and replace either with a true PG this team improves on both ends of the court. If you cannot play within the flow of the O or D you are a liability. Last night IQ struggled at both ends aa did Jak and RJ, GD were consistently bad on D … simply TOO much.
It's possible Quickley has dead legs from running around like a crazy person on defense … and now he's having trouble with shooting accuracy 😮. How much time should we give this defense before we switch up? 20-40 games?

Did this coaching staff really think this is the defense best suited for these players ??? Teach them some zone !!! This defesne aint it all this pressure is useless. IQ suks .. Jak looks slow , Darko has no idea what he is doing and Ingram looks mediocre at best and this team still cant shoot …this all falls on Bobby

The back unit plays better D than the starters.
Darko didn’t give alot of playing time to the young guys Gradey and CMB until the end.
They had a bad 3rd quarter. That’s where the game changed
Raptors need to do their dirty work before the screen. Just hedge it and have everyone ready for rotation. Also we have jumbo playmakers this season and I get Darko not subbing IQ to start the 2nd half, but Ochai is sitting on the bench as our best POA defender and he would’ve done great vs. Cooper.

The size issue is why I was so bummed we passed on Khaman Maluach (forgive my spelling). We need to have a big in the pipeline to take the reins from Jak and play backup. Also, I would love to hear your thoughts on what you would have the Raptors do differently on defense that fits the roster better. I would like to see you incorporate some more of your own opinions in your videos ESsays.

Every year I buy into the hype over the summer/off-season. Then early season I'm brought back to reality
If they have open roster spots, they should consider signing backup centers to 10-day contracts—preferably players close to 7 feet tall who can provide rim protection. They need more versatility at the center position. Additionally, they should add a playmaking point guard to strengthen the roster
CMB has not shown much in summer league, preseason, and this game. Hopefully e figures it out, but it's clear he will be a long term project. He needs to cook in with the 905 this season.
Poetle is not the right center for this team. He's not fast, doesn't shoot, not a good rebounder,not dominating. Look other centers in the league, there are fast and protect the basket and are mobile.
Jakob Poeltl, Immanuel Quickley, and Ochai Agbaji got to go and bring in Zion Williamson or Ja Morant

Looks like another year of awful basketball. Scottie can’t hit a layup and his decision making is horrible. IQ is garbage. Jakob is unplayable. Ingram is our best player and needs to take more shots. Sandro is nice, really good pick up. RJ is is RJ, nothing to complain about.
Spurs is not very good. I watched yesterday game vs Brooklyn Nets & the Nets erased at 26pt 3Q deficit & had it not been for the refs they would have won. By the way Steph Castle is not good at handling ball pressure. Did yoy see how many tos he had? I watch the gm vs Oek

2nd straight game IQ goes on a hero ball run in the 2nd half and screws us. Also , running a full court press all game only works when you have legit rim protection which we dont. IQ is a major issue though. He leads the team in possessions in which he shoots yet has the lowest points per possession on the team. In retrospect bi has the 2nd FEWEST possessions in which he shoots yet leads the team in points per possession
Mogbo needs to play Raptors need size and athleticism.

CMB was disappointing. I wanted Jase Richardson and a next pick instead of 10 pick because, l know IQ and Jacob no.
Mamu is a Pf. Would he play well with Reese or Sarrs who scored a last second game winner in preason. And never got credit for it.
CMB looked bad in his first summer league game too. Agree, least of their concerns.
Jakob is not a good fit and never was for the type of play they want. He played this way in 2023-24 season – I remember lots of fans were frustrated with him.
Last year was an anomaly imo
