Raptors broadcast today was crazy. Talking about feed the beast for Ingram begging players to pass him the ball. Scottie’s game was just as good and almost zero mention of it
Raptors are lucky the Blue Jays are distracting all the fans right now cause damn, they look awful.
Imagine having Scottie and B.I. with O.G. in the starting lineup, with a proper centre and similar bench. I think we could've been such a better team. Doubling down on Jak was a problem. IQ is a good player but he plays more like a traditional shooting guard than point guard. I wonder how Shead would play with the starters. Or maybe we could keep Scottie on point to add another player like Danny Green who can space the floor, take open shots and play defense.
I'd say if this season is also going to be a bust, Bobby Webster needs to get fired, and potentially even Darko despite how much I like him.
IMO, Jak, IQ and RJ should all be traded away. We should've kept Boucher 100%, mans was the soul of our team.

Still not blaming Darko. Bobby has to build a better team. 2 or 3 starters should be coming off the bench. We’re not a competitive team for that reason alone
Scheduled loss, so no biggie. It's just a damn shame that we piss such a rare opportunity like this when we are so hot from long range. We probably will only shoot this well once in every 10 games. On top of being so big, the Rockets out hustled and out worked us, and got pretty much whatever they wanted. On defence, they implemented the perfect game plan: pack the paint, dare us to shoot, and attack IQ, or Grady whenever possible, and practice extra hard on their FT shooting. I said it before the game that it would be a moral victory if the Raptors lost by less than 25pts, and I stick by that. Hell, we even got to single digit deficits a few times to make it interesting, but then Darko would bring in new players that f'ed everything up. He's too smart and not blind to the lineup data that we can all see, so there has to be some secret agenda that he and Bobby are working out.
IQ might be our official Tank Commander. He should sit 3-5 games and watch how competent PGs play (Barnes, Shead, possibly even Hepburn would be a better fit). Without IQ we might be 3-2 or even 4-1.
I wish Darko can try a lineup of Barnes, Jakobe, BI, CMB, and Mamu. Enough spacing and elite defense. Can this lineup play 20min together?
Constantly bringing up the “team personnel” to justify being the worst defensive team in the league makes no sense, especially when you look at the type of players we currently have on our roster. Moving one player to the bench (which I 1000% agree with and would do) won’t magically fix the problem. You don’t need five great defenders on the floor at all times just to have a serviceable defense. Stop trying to fit triangle-shaped pieces into circle-shaped holes, if you can’t work with what you have, it’s never going to work. The coaching staff has enough talent to not be one of the worst defenses in the entire league.
Start CMB and Scottie play Scottie at PG on offense but let CMB guard perimeter on defence and Scottie be help side defender

I’m so tired of this team being hyped by raptors media and fans to then shit the bed……the last 4 seasons straight. Turns out that it actually matters that a cohesive roster is assembled with competent guard play and a mobile big that protect the rim at an above-average level. It’s not rocket science but our FO prefers to do gymnastics trying to fit square pegs into round holes. A healthy Jak is not the answer. Quickly hitting his 3’s is not the answer. Deeply flawed construction. RJ and Gradey can’t defend for shit.

I think the chemistry and ball movement of the starters will vastly improve the offense. Defensively you get way better.
With this (“3 starters on the bench”) idea, they can play more traditional offensive against other benches and IQ keeps his screener in Yak, Gradey can space and Mogbo can add some defensive toughness without requiring a lot of touches.
I truly do belive this team would take quantum leaps if they were just given a real point guard who can be a table setter for the offense. If u put garland in place of IQ this team could probably win a playoff round

Solid film session! Your frustrations are understood. Any coach on any level would absolutely obliterate you for leaving your man the way R.J left Amen baseline. The Quickley possessions were just far worse though. It's just bad basketball! The more you kept going with clips on Quickley I'm like "dude… did he ever wake tf up this game!?". Lol
Every player other than Scottie BI and CMB needs to go, they need to completely revamp this supporting cast. We are gonna waste the talents of these 3 by surrounding them with defensive cones and inefficient offense first players like IQ Barrett and Gradey. And the guys that play some defense offer 0 on the offensive end. Sadly we gave IQ a terrible contract and no one will want it, so we are stuck with him.
Raptors should start crashing the defensive boards, and trust Scottie/BI to run a competent half court offense.
I understand your point about sitting IQ out to recover his value. Only issue is they did that last year and still couldnt trade him. He is just trash and they need to recognize he is a lost cause and just start and develop Shead.
Honestly they need winners leading the team. I have been saying for 2 years that they should fire Webster. He has been terrible for 4 years.
That being said Darkos coaching style magnifies the weaknesses on the team especially on the defensive end with the terrible lineups and aggressive style.
Both Darko and Webster need to go and replace them with winners. Coach Malone and Bob Myers could be good targets.

I've been saying for a while now, we can't possibly have 2 non defenders at point of attack.
And while that is going to always be a problem (especially in the playoffs) not having Jak to man the paint and clean the glass, this problem is sticking out like sore thumb.
IQ sucks when he is not hitting the shots, because he makes dumb decisions with the ball and can't find the right guy. He definitely needs to move to off ball type of role. And honestly right now IQs defense is no better than RJs

Rockets just have way more talent on the team. KD a better version of BI, Sengun a better version of Barnes, and the defensive wings and size of Houston is too much to handle for a team like raptors. It would have been a 40 point loss if raptors shot league average from 3. Getting out rebounded by 31 and outscored in the paint by 30 is not a recipe to win games. Raptors were lucky to only get blown out when they could have gotten completely dismantled if they were cold from 3.
The worst play – early in the game, fast break opportunity & Scottie is wide open, ahead of everyone, yelling so loud I could hear from where I sat… and IQ completely missed him 🤯 how? You’re on to something with “IQ/RJ only looks for each other”
Rob, What do you think Bobby Webster had done at this point to correct the abysmal performance by his team?
correct me if im wrong but wasn't Darko`s plan this year that regardless if you were a starter, if you're not playing good you will subbed out for someone that is playing better. I dont remember the exact words but I know this was stated in one of his interviews. I remember it being something like its literally the first man up, whoever is bringing that energy, if someone isn't playing well, the next player will be called up so busy will be fighting for minutes. But I haven't seen that yet at all
Toronto needs to stop gambling so much on defense and play hard, knows fundamentally, sound defense by keeping your man in front of you.. There are too many players trying to do too much .
