Ya they should be 5-0 but totally gagged away 2 games in a conference you just can't give away games very often that are already basically won. Just disgusting to lose BOTH of those games. Not before the game,& in a vacuum. Portland is talented up,& coming team,& GS is a contender. I wasn't surprised they lost either games-especially on the road. But to basically have both of them at like 95% + win chance with a couple minutes left-is just a terrible sign. Only way to make up for it is by winning a different road game you don't expect them to win-at least 1. Home wins won't make up for it-just have to basically have single digit home losses,& win a little more than half your road games. Even that won't give ya the 1 seed…maybe not even #2 but hopefully the 3 at around 55 wins. But blowing 2 golden opportunities already is just a horrible start. That's not even mentioning the 2 conference losses,& basically 2 game swing in the head to head the breaker with GS.
Even had they split those,& were at 4-1 they'd be in pretty fine shape. Still super early but losing both put them behind the 8 ball immediately. With all the hot starts around the west they really need all 4 of these home games. At a minimum 3-1- any worse than that,& I'll really start to worry-even as early as it is. The West might be the deepest,& best conference in HISTORY this year. To blow 2 games like that in almost quick succession-already might mean starting on the road,playing OKC round 2 again or even hello play in. Those gags were far more damaging than mere "normal losses." This isn't the AVS 0-5 in OT which are really "quasi ties." in the NHL regular season. As frustrating as that is-they are 1st in the NHL,& on pace for fewest REAL losses in NHL history. Nugs are already in danger of maybe getting all but buried from catching OKC& possibly other teams if this home stand is disastrous. That's probably exaggerating but that's how tough the West feels this year-you just can't give away many games.
