DISAPPOINTMENT: Boston Celtics Flaws EXPOSED in Brutal Loss to Utah Jazz

Boston Celtics suffer their most disappointing loss of the season, falling to the Utah Jazz and exposing every team flaw. Can Joe Mazzulla’s squad fix their rebounding woes, overcome poor shooting, and find consistent effort before it costs them more games?

John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal breaks down the Celtics’ collapse, highlighting Jaylen Brown’s shooting struggles, Neemias Queta’s rebounding failure against Jusuf Nurkic, and why sloppy execution and bad lineups are derailing Boston’s early-season momentum. Key topics include an abysmal third quarter, missed opportunities off turnovers, and questionable officiating in the final minutes. With the Celtics’ defensive rebounding, offensive rhythm, and mental focus all under the microscope, tough questions arise about whether Boston has what it takes to contend in a competitive NBA landscape.

  1. Very disappointing game but we lost as a team we just need to fight more and give our fans better at home. It’s not Celtics basketball to lose in that fashion. Let’s go Celtics ☘️

  2. Yuck. Destroyed on the glass by a bigger Utah team and then we resort back to chucking up 50+ threes. It was definitely a missed call but the game shouldn’t have been that close at that juncture. Once again, Jaylen does absolutely everything he can to try & win-he was fantastic. If anyone’s interested, here’s what the ref had to say postgame:
QUESTION: With about 47 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Keyonte George fell in front of Jaylen Brown, who was driving toward the basket. Brown then fell over George, but no foul was called. What was your view of this play, and why was no foul called on George?

SCOTT: During live play the crew observed George slip and fall just prior to Brown slipping on the same spot resulting in the ball becoming loose prior to any contact.

QUESTION: During live play that was your view. Did you have a chance to look at it? Is that still your view of it?

SCOTT: That’s still my view after being on the floor in live play.

QUESTION: Why is that not a foul?

SCOTT: Because the crew observed both players slip and fall prior to any contact. That’s why a foul was not called during live play

  3. The Celtics were up 1 they end up scoring on the fast break taking the lead but when the no call happened they were up 1

  4. I’m glad all of this Derrick White love has gone away. Always propped up by Tatum, JB and other all star players

  5. That was hard to watch. Not sure what's happening with D white but hopefully he figures it out soon

  6. This is already feeling like 2013-‘14 all over again. Prepare yourselves fellas…we’re in for a long season.

  7. Most disappointing umm you forgot about the stomping Houston put on the C’s!! The jazz has been playing well this season, and JB just has no help

  8. What about missed free throws? Remember what Red always said. "the team that makes all of its free throws, will win the game."

  9. This shouldn’t surprise anyone. This team lacks the talent to compete. They have won the 2 games they won by sheer effort (the third game was the Pelicans lol) They won’t be able to play 125% effort for 48 minutes for 82 games. Don’t kill your good players this season and work toward a high lottery pick and get a real big man. That and getting Tatum back next season should right the ship. No one should be rooting for this team to scratch and claw their way to a 6 seed and then exit the playoffs in the first round. What is the point of that?

  10. Queta fault my a$$ the rotation is mediocre…when the game is improving overall and the players are gaining the game he start with his poor rotation and breaks the game…where is D white numbers?!?

Queta is a work horse and doesn't have a quality PF helping him on the boards…its a SF doing the job but the guy is 6'8 with long arms.

Joe could turn out to be a one trick pony or a one hit wonder…

He's young for a coach but this rotation and way of playing the game is poor…

Of course if he had Tatum OK he had more wins but that only helped covered the mistakes of the way the team plays the game….

  11. No criticism of Mazzulla? He deserves some too, because you said the 'effort' was non-existent except perhaps for JB. That's on the coach!

  12. I was at work Celtics up 14 – 2 i immediately celebrated anf kept working.
I got home, Celtics lost by 1 point. My feelings can't take it.

  13. If the team can’t manage consistent offense, defense, or effort, one has to ask themselves if Brad and co. saw this coming.

  14. Best part about this season is theres ZERO expectations so Im not even as mad about these losses as I would've been in past years 🤷🏾‍♂️

  15. Player Plus/Minus Total (+/-) Minutes Per Game (MPG)
    Neemias Queta +52 22.8
    Payton Pritchard +19 32.9
    Josh Minott +15 20.9
    Sam Hauser +11 23.8
    Baylor Scheierman +6 9.4

    Yet it's Neemy fault…

  16. Your analysis of Queta is spot on. Additionally, he lacks stamina and endurance. I also think that Queta lacks the killer instinct needed to excel in professional sports. In effecr, he has a low ceiling for improvement.

  17. I’m a huge Joe supporter, but I felt last night required a more aggressive attack of the paint. Jazz are not a team who can just keep the Celtics out of the paint like others. That def hurt us but more than anything…. Derrick white needs to join the damn party. He said it himself after the game. We’ve lost what is it, 3 games by 1 bucket? Yea. We need our second best player to be our second best player.

  18. When queta grabs the ball it’s like the ball is covered in oil or soap. He can barely hold it in his hands. He keeps losing it. What the hell?

  19. Have to move queta, Scheierman, Walsh, Tillman, Boucher getting.pummeled on the boards and White Brown and Pritchard bricking it. May be time to move White or Pritchard for a younger, bigger more athletic player or Ja Morant. Queta and Pritchard arent NBA starters

  20. Hey Joe, why do you take Pritchard out at the halfway point of the 1st quarter when he is hitting shots, and appears to have it going? He’s been playing at least 10 mins of q1 every game. Seems ignorant to me to take someone out that’s shooting well?

  21. I watch every game. This game was ass because defense was garbage, no one defending seriously in the paint, and we shoot just too many 3's to be missing that much. we need to get up in there. all imo of course

  22. Bad no-call for sure but it’s game 8 & if JB is this frustrated already someone should let him know it’s going to be A LONG SEASON. Maybe he should give any “injuries” he has so attention & rest
