Orlando Magic’s starting five SHINES | Franz Wagner FIXES his 3-point woes?
The Orlando Magic are trying to right the ship after a 3-4 start. But the underlying numbers tell a story of a team that is going to come together and succeed.
The Magic’s starting lineup is one of the best lineups in the league at the beginning of the season. That is a sign the Magic should be fine in the long run. This is the backbone for the team.
There are still plenty of questions the Magic have to answer. Anthony Black has been inconsistent to start the season in a larger role. And Franz Wagner has started off strong from three. The question is whether it will last.

Though I was skeptical at first, I believe that Franz has found his 3pt shot. I doubt he stays at his current percentage, but I can see him sustaining a high 30% average from beyond the arc.
The common denominator in this whole thing is Jalen Suggs. He takes the team to another level. Mediocre when he doesn’t play and good when he does. Just look how this team was last year with or without him
You’re crazy to be advertising for FanDuel!
Do you think that Franz disappearing in 2nd half is being purposely done if you look at it all but 1 game Banchero is not really scoring until the 2nd half I thought maybe they are taking turns on the offense side
Magic W run begins now.
My assessment of black is still the same he plays better when he has the ball in his hand and not doing pick&roll he gets lost and does to much reading when he’s aggressive the defense has to react to him and he’s a better player we have to understand what he’s good at and use him in that way when he’s a focal point off the bench
it was painful but i think the terrible start to the season was necessary. it humbled them (and us fans.) showed them what was + wasn't working in the new offensive system…
and above all they re-learned the lesson that Magic bball is about defense, togetherness + camaraderie, physicality, playing w joy, and giving 100% effort every minute you're on the court.
Hi Philip, I really value your analysis, and I agree on 90% of your reasoning, but man, you cannot say that until now desmond bane has been a positive factor. He'll probably be (I hope), but for now seeing him play has been a nightmare. On defense, getting past by speed, bullied by size, overcommiting for steals, late on rotations, silly fouls, and on offense, he has been a turnover machine, shooting poorly and he might have been rejected 3+ times every game, everytime he goes for a layup. The only game that didn't happen was the last, were at last he learned to double the ball to Wendell for the assist. That last game gives me hope that he starts to differentiate playing recklessly (with no discipline) and playing effortly (still evaluating the gameplay) becasuse he costed us 2 or 3 of our losses thus far. I am not saying we give up on him, but he has to improve A LOT.
It's nice that they're playing better, but you got to do it against teams other than Washington and Charlotte.
