Tyrese Maxey is playing like an MVP candidate and VJ Edgecombe has been special, but fans are wondering how Joel Embiid factors into the mix of this new up-tempo style. I have a theory about why we have these two massive contracts: Josh Harris is an owner who doesn't know a thing about basketball, but I feel like he dictated the big choices to make based on 'big names' and who was on the floor. Now that Bob Myers, whom Harris trust, tells him what should happen, he listens and leaves everybody alone.

I think they can pay Grimes in the off-season. But unfortunately I think it will come down to signing him or Oubre. I love both of them. Maybe Morey will find a way.
We were in a dark place last year and one of the few bright spots was Quentin Grimes. He gave it his all when he stepped on the court to help us win games. Then you had people like Georges Niang trying to disrespect him last year. I hope he drops a couple of points on him when we play the Jazz in March
I think Embiid is just taking it easy and building his confidence in his knee slowly. I think they should have some kind of minutes restriction for him at least until the last quarter of the season.

Not ashamed to admit I totally wrote that game off last night in the third quarter, last season is still too fresh in my memory. I have to try to remember this is a new team. We definitely need to keep Grimes, that dude has been clutch..
Oubre , VJ , Grimes , maxey those four backcourt is the best I ever seen in my sixty two years watching basketball , the front office don't F" this up these four can put up 100 point just by themselves.

We either go all in and try to win this season and lose him in the offseason or trade Grimes at the deadline for a return. Just being realistic sorry
Not true about Grimes expecting 25 M to play this season. That is Sixers trying to make Grimes side look irrational, as an excuse not to negotiate.
Initially Grimes agent was hoping for an average of 25 M over 4 years. With 8% increases, that comes out to be 22.3 M in year 1, not 25 M.
But everyone knew he would take much less, especially after Nets were eliminated.
But at the end, it was clear that Grimes agent mentioned 17 M, and maybe Morey could have talked him down to 16 M, especially on a short term deal.
But instead, Morey wouldn't go above 9 M per year. Clearly, Morey had no intention of trading Grimes this season, so why give a bonus to waive the right to veto a trade? Restricted Free Agency needs to be modified, as it doesn't represent a Market. It allows GMs to SQUEEZE players.
In short, Morey deceived Grimes all along, and was under orders from Josh Harris to keep his Luxury Taxes down.
So Morey had no choice but to force Grimes to take the Qualifier.
Grimes has lost around 9 M that he can't recover.
Sixers own Grimes Full Bird rights so they can pay him. Josh Harris is the obstacle, just as he was with James Harden.
Sixers fans need to hold up signs for Harris to sell the team, or else pay the luxury taxes.

Ok I'm sick of trying to reason with the unreasonable. TRADE EMBIID. If y'all hate the guy so much then lets play it out. You trade him to Utah lets say. Why do they take him? Only because you have young players and picks they want. So they give you markanan but they ask for vj and McCain maybe some picks. Suddenly you become a very expensive utah jazz cuz you still have pg's salary. My money says the jazz suddenly become contenders with that trade and Philly get exactly what they deserve.
Scenario 2 for all the people wanting to get rid of Embiid at all costs: you can't find a taste partner because everyone has the same film ur watching, ur not tricking anyone. So then you can waive and stretch him. That means you have a still hefty salary of just under 30 million on your books every year for the next 7 years. You still have Paul George making 50 plus and you can't waive and stretch more than 1 guy. Meanwhile embiid gets go to his pick of any contender, sign for a dollar a year and try to compete for a title. Again I like his chances better than the Sixers. So if you want to run the guy out of town it's fine but just know you're not going to be better for it

The young guard energy is CRAZY! You could start to see shades of this last year when Mccain was paired with Maxey too. Edgcombe, Maxey, Grimes and Mccain together are gonna be insane!
The Sixers haven’t played any of the good teams, so while they are 4-0 please wait before talking championship.
Maxey is first in minutes per game, Edgecombe is second, and Oubre is fourth. Sixers need McCain and PG back before ww will know what they are.
I think Embiid should be playing about 26-28 minutes a game when he clears his minutes restriction. Let Bona give them a different dynamic for those off court minutes. I think PG should do the same thing. Teams will struggle with trying to play two entirely different styles, plus it helps keep the vets fresh for the postseason.
I think everyone saying Embiid don't fit, how about we wait and see what version of Embiid we get once he's up to strength. Nobody knows what that will look like. Is all athleticism gone or does he not have full confidence in his knee healthy yet & being very cautious??? Only playing will make that clear. Instead of wanting to make this Maxey team or we have to play through this guy or that guy, how about we wait to see what we have & than make a détermination as we go. Surrounding a player like Embiid with shooters & cutters would be unstoppable. Also, combining that half court offense with an up tempo fast attack would be crazy. Remember OKC beat the up tempo team. Okc could play fast and half court style. Its only 4 games lets be patient on making and absolute détermination on what we are. At least give it 20 – 25 games
They should take it slow with Joel, he’s putting up points but horrible on defense, maybe until he’s healthy enough to jump and move around more.
If this season doesn’t work out, trade him. Unless the Sixers already see no future progress, then I would trade him now. Use the highlights and stats to their advantage, and get as much as they can for him now.
Embiid is still the main component, don't get carried away 😅😅😅… The season is still young and playoff games are deferent….
I'm 50-50 on the Joel situation. I like that we have 2 identities that we can lean on. We have the slow half-court set that Joel tends to be a part of. And we have the young squad where we see more motion and speed involved. I think they both have their parts. Bona was able to basically rest the entire game because of the way the Sixers are rotating their subs and when we needed him most, he was the freshest defender we had.
I think McCain is going to be a game changer

My only issue with these takes is not that I think people are hating on Joel. Because I think there is still support in the city. I'm just wondering why such harshness over 3 games on a minute restriction of 20 min a game and now Joel should now be a role player in the system. I think maxey is clearly the first on the team and I don't think Joel has a problem with that. But are we now wanting to be a fifth option who provide defense? For all that trade him for Rudy gobert then or we can give him time to continue rounding into form.
Sixers are cooking. Keep Embiid on a minutes restriction and unleash him when you’re confident he’s healthy. That said, do whatever it takes to make sure he’s healthy by the playoffs. Having the team play well without him will only help the team down the line.
This take about Embiid just isn't true. Sarr hit a bunch of tough shots. If Sarr does that consistently, he's a star. Embiid's side to side defense is encouraging. He held up better against Jaylen Brown in that celtics game than bona would. The plan is probably for Embiid to limit jumping because some Doctor said that raises risk for reinjury but in key moments he can turn it up. Embiid is the only real mvp who scores efficiently on the team, at this point. If he stayed in the game, the game would have never been that close to need Bona's blocks. The sixers are finally good enough to beat medicore teams without Embiid, which is something that took the organization years to do. But without Embiid and reasonable health, they are not a real contender.
