When Wemby had that incredible start to the season and seemed he had become that dominant big man that's impossible to guard…I knew that eventually teams will come up with a game plan to stop him and the Lakers implemented that. And unfortunately for the Spurs, they don't have enough good players surrounding Wemby to make a team like the Lakers pay for doubling him. For example, if you double team Luka or LeBron, the Lakers have a plan for that. They have Austin, they got good 3 point shooters, they got big man Ayton or Hayes rolling to the basket. Rui can shoot it, Laravia can shoot it, Dalton can shoot it. And then throw in Smart, who is simply a dog on defense. And now we got Smith Jr. lighting it up? Shit man, you can't let this Lakers team score 118 points, with no LeBron or Reaves and expect to win.
@0:06 "it was a long one, but a good one" π
Marcus Smart has been a Blessing to the lakers
Luka just toys with nba players and teams. Somebody(s) stop me
As a biased white spurs fan, I can honestly say that Luca gets whiteboy calls. He constantly gets the benefit of the call when he is the one initiating contact. I will say it reminds me of 90s bball where stars got half their points from the line
The Marcus Smart inbound play at the end was about taking seconds off the clock. That's basketball IQ
Yea. He was shooting 85% this year from the FT line. I thought he was gonna tie it up.
Lakers should pick up LouWill. He looks like he can still play. I know he can still shoot!
I've seen the Marcus Smart inbounds violation committed dozens of times in almost every game from every team and the refs almost never call it. They either need to call it every time or not at all. It seemed like they were trying to make some kind of example by calling it right there in the last second of a close game. It was odd to say the least.
Jokic is the true mvp!
Honestly, itβs one mistake. No one can talk crap about Marcus Smart this year. Heβs been great for us. If he can go back to his dpoy level, Lakers could go far in playoffs.
Michelle Beadle looks atrocious. Wow. That is some horrible plastic surgery.
You guys keep complaining about Luka complaining lol.
Dude you guys COMPLAIN MORE than Luka π
Smart was not trade ππππ lue tripping he signed as a free agent
beadle got the plastic surgeon on lock
Luka shot 35% . When he becomes efficient
SGA mastered the FLOPπ€·π€£
Lebron hired his βwine buddyβ and Stephan A and haters were so mad
I work in PR π
Lukas vision is what separates him from other players clowns
A couple more bad games by Wemby then the Wemby Bubble will officially burst (though still less probable than the incoming AI Bubble, which is definitely bursting in the next year or two at the latest). Teams are figuring out how to deal with him–get him into foul trouble because he likes to challenge every nearby shot, and guard him with different looks and players. He'll figure out countermoves in time, of course, but the early hype is just that–it was ridiculous for all these media boneheads to say he was already the best player in the league and MVP after 5 games, as if the the NBA season didn't have another SEVENTY SEVEN games to go!
To me, what sets Wemby apart isn't so much his "alien" height or other physical attributes, but his drive and willingness to learn from the others and learn the game, period. Compare him to the likes of Ja and Zion, who came in with similar hype (Zion) or generated such hype after the first 2 seasons (Ja), but never grew as players–in fact, they've regressed. Even other good US-born players without similar head-case/motivation problems such as Jason Tatum I feel have stagnated or plateaued, Maybe the other young studs on OKC, Houston, or even (improbably) Philly will rise to the top in time. Or perhaps AR15 will continue to make the most of his more limited physical gifts and improve year by year.
The only thing that is SAFE to say is that in the foreseeable future (say next 5-10 years), the MVP will not go to a US-born player–it'll be a rotating cast of winners such as SGA, Joker, Luka, and Giannis, and now add Wemby to that list in a couple of years.
As a Lakers fan, I'm NOT looking forward to Lebron coming back–his absence has allowed a lot more freedom and playing time for younger players like Laravia, and I hated how they've always stagnated ever since LBJ' joined the team. (It's one of the reasons why free-flowing guards like Lonzo couldn't thrive with the Lakers, and don't get me started on the at least ONE DOZEN good young players they drafted that the team let go because Lebron didn't like playing with them and was always looking for the next "superstar" to join him, repeating his Miami experience). It's refreshing to see the LA Lakers again after 8 years, instead of the LA Lebrons, at least for the beginning 10-12 games of the season. It should always be about the TEAM first, not some aging passive-aggressive self-professed King of drama that sucks the daylight and attention out of any place he goes. When he's not playing, it's harder for him to CONNTINUE to demand attention or pout (though he'll do both anyway), even his media sycophants won't be talking about him like a god all the time (like ESPN). Austin Reaves for one plays well with Luka and better without Lebron. He and Luka are the future of the Lakers, not the 2 Jameses.
Team USA Bron loading
Luka the goat
The media talking about luka complaining is a way for the media to take another mvp from him
No one cares about Luka complaining. Get over it. Every nba player dose it
Are you kidding me? engage on the defensive side. He literally had 5 steals and 2 block not even wenby had that. His been playing defense
Am I the only one who notices how far Jaxon has come since coming to the Lakers? He's very good. Plays with passion but controlled. I don't ever hear anyone mention him.
Are those the Epstein files in the boxes behind Lou?
Kidding aside, what does Lou think of Nick Smith Jr.βs game? He kind of reminds me of Lou.
Damn Sweet Lou Lou hasnt aged at all.
Ar will not show in the playoffs
Chandler the Tingler
I dont get the same feeling watching sga play
I think people misunderstand lukas ref complaining. Luka is making sure hes getting his calls. Plus hes playing mind games u know luka is a chess nerd. U get the refs questioning everything. Every play u put it in the refs head that you could've been fouled. A weak minded ref will break mentally and start calling phantom foul calls or just T him up π
This was one of Lou Will most un bias lakers take , great honest take Lou
Joker, overlooked again, is a hardest player to stop
Lou is basically a smart Perk
Lakers was so smart with getting Marcus smart
